Unfocused (PICS)
Just about the only thing that’s been focused in my life lately has been my camera. Witty, no?
Between business trips for both Chuck and myself, having all the kids for spring break, and having house guests at the same time (Jeremy, who’s finally home from his final trip to Iraq, and his new, Australian wife, Robyn, whom you may remember from pictures a year or two ago), there’s been little wiggle room in my schedule. I did, however, capture plenty of those moments with my camera. From St. Patty’s Day to building bird houses with the girls to flying kites to practicing with my new 50mm f/1.4 lens (the one I mentioned picking out in my last entry), I’ve got lots of photos to share.
Of course, there are lots of separate entries to come, but I figured I’d just start with some of the random shots I’ve taken around the house.
Enjoy!
Because I promised pics of my new office furniture (and because mindsetofajohn seemed so interested in seeing pictures of a desk — ha), here you go. This is where I work. And it’s awesome.
I even have a couch! The cats are really the only ones to use it, though…
And here’s the view from the opposite door. I love the huge window facing into our cul-de-sac. It can be a little distracting at times, though. And yep, that’s a Guinness sign hanging over the aquarium.
And… this is where the kitties sleep while I’m working. They take turns curling up in the bed. So weird, but cute.
Here’s the raised bed garden I mentioned in my last real entry. It looks way smaller in this photo than it actually is. Not to mention there’s another square bed off to the side of this one, and we’ve got other veggies and berries planted in pots. We may actually be able to avoid the grocery store all summer.
Every spring, I’m amazed at how quickly foliage changes and blooms. I took this photo of the fire nandinas around our back patio in early March.
I took this one yesterday, not even a month later. The nandinas are bright green now, and of course, you can see that I’ve re-mulched, added some new solar lights, and have planted a huge pot of herbs on the corner.
Chuck and me getting ready to hit up our favorite sushi spot. I can never get him to take a normal picture.
New bird feeder and hand made birdhouse out by our shed. There are a ton of birds out there every morning, and one of these days, I might get up early enough to take some pictures of them. But I doubt it.
Yeah, I know that was kind of a weird array of pictures, but I thought it better to put all the random shots with no real purpose together in one entry. The following entries will at least make a little sense. More to come!
Cheers!

ooh, your office looks so nice. I’m jealous of your veggie garden. Our backyard gets almost no sun because of all the trees we have, so we can do some stuff in pots, and a few hearty things (like squash) on a small patch in the ground. But I paid for CSA share this year, so I’ll be getting TONS of fresh, local veggies anyway, so I’m not sure how much I’ll be planting myself this year anyway. I really should decide, though, since it’s about time to get started!
