Al Faw Palace – Part 1 (PICS)
More pics <– thataway, and a real entry here if you’re interested.
Well, I think I can fit the rest of my pics thus far into three more entries. Ha. I took a bunch of photos at Al Faw Palace a few days ago. For those who don’t know, this was formerly Saddam Hussein’s palace that we took over and built Camp Victory around. Enjoy!
Walking up to the entrance of Al Faw Palace.
Some of the giant carp (which we affectionately refer to as piranhas) circling the lake around the palace. They’re feeding off some bread that I just threw in the water.
Closer shot of the entrance to the palace.
Detail above the main entrance.
Massive chandelier hanging in the main foyer of the palace.
Took this pic from the third floor balcony.
Fixture holding the chandelier.
A very feeble picture of the interior of the palace. I can’t even begin to describe to you how massive this place really is. To give you a better perspective of how big the main chandelier is, look at all the little ones in this pic. They’re the same size as the smaller branches surrounding the center drop of the main chandelier.
Detail of the ceilings inside the palace.
More to come. Stay tuned!
Cheers,
Felina
