What do you do, when you can do nothing?
All you can do is be there with an open door.
This is something that I have been struggling with lately. I have a friend who is going through some painful times. I had a similar experience many years ago. Now, I hurt for him. I see his actions, I hear his words and I know that he is hurting. His trust is gone. He doesn’t want to get close to anyone for fear of losing them. He pushes until they give in. It’s hard to watch as I have already been there. And to know that there is nothing I can do, except to be true to my word and always be there.
Most people give up. They take it personally when it has nothing to do with them. So the question really is… how do you let go when you care?
I leave you with this quote-
Sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing. There is a time for silence. A time to let go and allow people to hurl themselves into their own destiny. And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it’s all over.
