how’s the boys?

when people ask me that I have to take a breath and put my emotions back in their box to answer…  because..  well..  my boys have poor health. Always have. Always will.

Mr 23 has Aspergers Syndrome.. this makes life a little tricky for whoever he lives with..  not me..  but I miss him..  and then I can’t cope with him.

Mr16 was diagnosed with clinical depression at 11 .. but had all the symptoms well before that. Meds started at 13 .. Only recently found some that seen to work this year..  after some pretty awful years for him..  but he still struggles to leave his room…  and misses lots of school..  and when he’s there he has mental "brown outs" where he just can’t think..

Mr 11 was diagnosed with a mitochondrial disease called Kearne-Sayres Syndrome when he was 8. This is a ‘ progressive’ condition that 80% of kids die from before they are 20. He is deteriorating and uses crutches or a wheelchair this year to get around. He also misses lots of school.

They are undemanding kids because they spend most of their lives in their bedrooms. But they still keep me very busy looking after them.

so when people ask me how are the boys, I mostly say they are mostly as ok add they can be..  or good.. close friends..  well..  they know already…

Mr 11 is a Home and Away tv series tragic and this week they have a new character who is a little girl with a mitochondrial disease. Her mother has been struggling with how much to tell about the progressive thing and is pretty sure the child is dying…  this is going to cause some issues fit Bern at school next week..  but I explained to him that he only has it mildly and so it is unlikely in his case to cut his life short.. He will have that answer ready I hope..

pretty hard for a kid soyoung to have to deal with though..

Have just prayed for yourself, and each of your boys, Mr 23 – Mr 16 and Mr 11, individually. Have been where you are: Solo parent with 3 kids – fortunately a need for glasses and remedial tooth work was all my lot suffered with.: but it is TOUGH, raising a family alone as well as being the only breadwinner! Dear Woman, those kids have and are a struggle — very glad they have a Mum with such a generous, capable, loving heart. Look after yourself – I’ve read between the lines that you have support of a stable and lasting kind …. that’s something you need. Many warm wishes for you and yours,

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about all this. I knew about the aspbergers, but I didn’t know about the others. My SIL had a baby with a mitochondrial disease, I know how devestating it can be. Unfortunately she only lived a year and 11 months of that was spent in a hospital. Keep working on the meds for the depression. It sometimes takes a LONG time to find the right one, but when you do…it can be life altering. Saying a prayer for you, my friend from the other side of the world. I think of you often.
