accidental aquaintance
Well, my horoscope said that I would meet an accidental aquaintance who would be a new lover or career option. Obviously, incurably needy for love, as I am, I was hopeful it love….
But, actually, it was not love, actually.
The boys and I had done our tour guide thing and found lots of koalas for the elderly tourists and were about to leave when a strange car drove up.
The boys came running inside saying tourist! but they’ve parked on the wrong side of the house! i said maybe it is a visitor as they have parked on the ‘visitor’ side. Mum said, I don’t recognise the car..
Then we recognised my youngest cousin from my uncle’s farm. He was driving a hire car with three fellas from the graphite mine! He had brought them out to meet mum (and me) and see the koalas (one was from Canada, the other from Mexico – although he had a Canadian accent too) The manager is an Adelaide man, although he says he travels all around the world with his work. They were there to assess the plant remaining on the old mine and work out what needed replacing and what fixing…
I got them cups of coffee and shared out the very limited food left, after we had eaten it all… Mind you they did look quite well fed men… And mum was telling them how I have done the mining course for me! So I said what I was doing and how I was very interested in the mine and in working in the industry. Chris said, yes I would like women working in ‘my mine’. I have heard they are much easier on the the machinery. (yes!).
so, even though it made us late for Mr14s lawn bowls, we went off again and did another tour guide thing… Chris said I could come and have a tour of the mine anytime I wanted, he was very friendly and direct.
So excited, I want to go today, but I really have to finish off a heap of stuff…for study,,, not sure what to do…

Thats the way to land a job, direct contact. Got more jobs that way than at interview. Don’t need to do that now, retired! Working on Pelican, repairing the damaged transom after the floods in Feb. Opportunity to extend the boat so that the water flows clear of the stern with less turbulence. New rudder to replace the heavy kickup leg of mutton one. Lifted the weights, dryed and epoxied.
