a career as a serial board member
yes, I am starting a new career as a board member… some are paid positions.. some are not, but they all inter-relate.
I have been busy putting in applications to go on them. Still have some more to go. Not sure how the misters will go for the ones I will be away for, but the man has actually been much better in himself and even has helped me get some things done lately! amazing… truly amazing…. so hopefully the good spell will continue and he will actually be able to provide some sensible childcare…. mind you.. Mr13 is getting better at organising himself and even Mr8 has started keeping his room organised so he can find his clothes etc.
I have offloaded some of my Domicilliary Care contracts, thanks to someone who wants the work and lives in the town where most of it is, and one of the boards will hopefully give me some decent anti-housing-development of neighbour’s farm power.
My mother’s first cousin passed away last week… she was 91 and just slipped away sitting up in bed reading a book. She had not been ill, lived independantly in her own lovely house, still drove her nice new car and had sharper faculties than most of us! She also had groovy purple hair, wore high heels and Chanel syle suits. I was named for her and as she had no children of her own, and adored children, she doted on me and enjoyed my misters too. She had some dear little dogs for company and looked after them well. Counselled all her neices and nephews and younger cousins who brought her all their troubles and also made the most amazing sponge cakes that rose up a foot high (not exaggerating!). I have her recipe but mine have never even got over the top of the cake tin, so I still dont know how she did them. Oh and she played contract bridge and was a concert pianist and played complicated pipe organs in various churches too. I keep remembering all the things she has done in her life…it was very full!
Funeral tomorrow so will hopefully catch up with some rellies. Will stay overnight at mum’s tourist farm/park, in her house, shop Wed, and take rest of annual tax to accountnts and come home…
..THEN we will try to plan a holiday away…. I have been trying to find out where there is a bit of snow falling… as I have never actually seen the stuff… and take the kids and maybe the man (if I can drag him away from farm) too as they have never seen snow either…
Was thinking town of Bright, near Melbourne somewhere which is near to several ski resorts but not actually up in the mountains…. I want snow but not cold… not sure if that’s possible but we’ll try!

Good luck with the boards .. and DOUBLE good luck with the not cold but near snow thing … not sure that’s possible either. RYN: well, we have actually been eating rather interestingly lately – Weight Watchers cookbooks have lots of wildly upmarket ingredients that we have not had before e.g. balsamic vinegar. I have lost weight and found some new recipes. Woh. Think of you often .. hope you haven’t got mice … good luck re grasshoppers later, and have fun in the hols. Sorry to hear of your departed Aunt .. they mean alot when you get one of those good ones, eh? Maybe you can be the Wonderful Aunt of our generation?

Snow?? You WANT snow??? Oh dear sweet you, how delusional you sunburnt Aussies are!!! Hahaha!! Come here in February, I’ll get you some snow. I actually don’t really like Maple syrup, but it’s almost a law to like maple syrup. As for Aussie history, I even know who Burke and Wells are.

Good luck with the vacation. You should have been HERE this winter if you wanted snow – I think the total was over 70 inches by the end of the winter!

I’ve read your last 20 entries, finding you at random. Your boys are beautiful, the land is gorgeous, really enjoyed reading. I’ve bookmarked you. I’ve always wanted to live on a farm. Hope you find that snow, it’s pretty awesome, but sorry to say that snow and cold go together. 😉

Marvellous recollection/ experience with your second aunt. Those are the special memories and persons in this life. Oh snow, been there, its cold stuff and there are no palm trees, sandy beaches or lovely boats floating about on blue fluid stuff. Not sure about snow.
