hopeful, but not too much

While I was in Tx I got a phone call from a unit manager at a hospital wanting to set up a phone interview with me. A week later I spent just about half an hour on the phone with the manager and the nurse educator and by the end of it they were giving me a lot of compliments and said that I seem like I’d be a great fit on their unit. The manager told me he’d email me by the following wednesday in case I had any more questions or if he wanted anything from me. Well, wednesday passed, then friday..the weekend..and the wednesday after that. I was very disappointed but decided to try and get a hold of him or the nurse educator in case he typed my email incorrectly or something. The weekend passed and so did that monday and on tuesday..I got a call!

He asked if I was still interested in the position and if so he wanted me to fly out and meet them in person. Of course I said I was still interested so in just over a week I’ll be flying across the country to meet them. He told me he would talk to HR about putting a packet together with information about benefits and all that jazz. In some ways I’m very excited but I’m also preparing myself for a big let down. In a way it seems silly that they would have me fly all the way out and then turn me away but you never know. I’m trying to stay optimistic but not too much at the same time.
