Twelve: Dependent Girl (Poem)
Who You Wanna Be
Dependent girl who thrives off others,
Why do you always ask things of them?
You beg and plead for them to take you,
Because all you really want to do is see him.
Dependent girl who is always asking
If someone could just be a friend,
Why do you continue to not take responsibility
To set things amends?
Dependent girl who gives nothing back,
Why do you expect people to follow through?
There is no selfless deed in this world,
Everything you want, you do it for you.
Dependent girl who has nothing left,
Why can’t you just learn to fly,
On your own you could be so free
And nobody would have to ask why.
Dependent girl with a broken soul,
Why can’t happiness come from within?
Your feeling gets hurt but you suck it up,
And ask forgiveness for your sin.
Dependent girl who relies on everyone,
Why can’t you just do things without permission?
You defend yourself the best you can,
And patently, your excuse, someone begins to listen.
Dependent girl with her broken heart
Why can’t you just be a better being?
Then you could turn on the light
And throw what is blinding you from seeing.
Dependent girl who keeps trying
Why do you continue to please the others
When all they do is bring you down,
As you begin to choke, you begin to smother.
Dependent girl who has no true confidence
Why do I feel sorry for you when you are me?
When I look into the mirror, it starts to show
This dependent girl is not who she wants to be.
I wrote this poem a while ago.
Sincerely
Katrina

to an extent its depersonalization but im not detached from the ‘experience’ if there even was one.. which is my point its more like.. the reversal of saying something is a lie for so long until you actually start to believe its the truth.. so this truth.. isn’t real? i dunno im tired
