changes and goals for this semester

I think constantly trying to improve yourself is an important life goal and I definitely feel like I need a lot of improvement right now and I’m at a point where I feel ready and motivated to change. Some of these are things I’ve always wanted to do, some are to help me overcome my depression and some are just for fun. Crossed through means completed, italics means semi-accomplished and otherwise I still need to work on it a lot.

1.keep my apartment and room clean for more than 24 hours at at time
Check! I got tired of not being able to walk on the floor without stepping over clohes/dishes, i guess

2. develop healthy eating habits that I can stick with for the rest of my life and cook at home more often.
I’ve been doing really well off and on for the last month or two, but I need to find ways to stick to it.

3. Start an excercise program that includes yoga, weight lifting and cardio (including my dreaded running) and stick to it regularly.
I’ve never been able to do this in my life. Still working on it. I did make it to the gym today.

4. Attain and stay at my ideal weight.
I’m tired of being one of the millions of women who constantly says, "when I was skinny" or "If I were thinner,…." I want to treat my body right, get to my body’s ideal weight and get to a stage where I have no desire to lose any more weight so I can forget about my weight.

5. Make more closer friendships.
Still working on this one. I don’t know why it’s so hard for me.

6. Check out and join some campus organizations.
Working on it…. I do have a few meetings ilned up to check out next week.

7. Start writing for a newspaper again.
Check! I’m a correspondence writer for my university’s paper and I turn in my first story… hopefully tonight.

8. Get a professional, academic job.
Check! I’m working for my professor as a research assistant a few hours a week.

9. Cut off all my hair for locks of love.
Check as of last night! I went from a brunette to a blond and cut off about 12 inches. I will try to post pictures. I LOVE my new haircut and it’s so easy to take care of.

10. Get unaddicted to caffeiene.
Yep, I finally am. It’s nice to not be dependent on it.

11. Stop drinking and be able to go out to parties, etc and still have fun.
I have a lot of personal reasons for this that I might get into later but for now I haven’t been drinking for about 2 weeks and I did, for about the first time ever, go out and have fun at a party being the only sober one there.

12. Love my body as it is (not conditionally on losing weight) and improve body image/self-confidence.
This is getting better.

13. Be more active on a daily basis, go out more often.
I have been lately, still working on it.

14. Don’t sleep more than 8-9hours a night and stop wasting so much time.
This one is too hard, especially the time wasting. I’m a professional time waster.

15. Graduate KU!
Unless the Spanish department screws me over with study abroad credits, this will happen in May!

16. Have fun just dating casually without getting serious.
I’ve had too many intense, serious relationships and I need to be single for a while. I had my first real "date" last week, as in the guy and I weren’t already a couple before we went out. It went okay. I need to do more but I’m so damn picky and all the men I like right now are taken.

17. Get laid.
I know this sound slutty, but I haven’t had sex in almost three years because of emotional baggage crap and I’m ready to start having sex again. But finding the right person is proving to be difficult. I miss sex. 🙁

18. Be kinder, more empathetic, and more in-tune with others.
I’m always working on this but it is hard.

19. Learn to do things for myself and not be afraid to try to do things I never used to be able to do.
This will always been a work in progress but, for example, I used to always have to have someone else set up my comptuer/cable/etc and help me move in. I did them both on my own this semester. I also taught myself to parellel park last week, something i’ve been avoiding for years.

I can’t figure out how to put in pictures because they don’t have a URL, they’re just on my computer….

You do need to get laid…

February 1, 2007

And one way you can get pictures is to create a Photobucket account, it should give you that option over on the side when you are writing an entry.

February 2, 2007

Good luck with those! =) You can definitely succeed!
