See, I do stuff
There is so much going on I wouldn’t know where to start. I find myself halfway through spring break, which I am loving, and I am so busy I have had almost no time to come here. I am working on progress reports but it is much easier when I am not in school working at the same time. It isn’t the best way to spend spring break but at least I am able choose between spreading it out over several days or getting it done and having more free days.
I am doing both. So as to not knock myself out I am spreading it out over some days, but as I work I find it is easier to do more than my projected quota of reports a day so I will be done and have some free days at the end. Well, you know, progress report free days.
Today when it warms up I am going to go work on our schools simulated archeological dig site. We are going to have some warm days and if I can hack it I might actually have the thing ready before school starts back up Monday. Probably not.
Yesterday I found and bought a grove of trees for our Romeo and Juliet play. I will be going back this week to get some more. The Capulet side of the stage needs it’s own grove. You know those fake ficus trees? Evidently people get tired of watering them and donate them to Arlington resale. I picked up a whole grove for 32 dollars. I would have gotten more but hey, how many groves do you think I can fit in my car?
Last Friday Knickers and I went to the five dollar a bag sale at this same place. It was all the clothes and shoes you can fit into a bag for five dollars. We filled 18 bags full of tightly rolled green and blue, and a few other colors, clothes for her to turn into costumes for the play. She told me yesterday that as she was taking the tags off to wash the clothes she added up how much it would have cost to buy them before the sale.
It was nearly 1,500 dollars worth of clothes! Wow. We had to buy a lot of velvety things so yeah, we made a beeline for the fancy shmancy stuff. Shakespeare you know. Can we roll those clothes tight or what?
The tortoise has been home safe and sound for a little while now. The Babe, in the middle of cleaning her room and brainstorming, asked me to flip her bed. Some of you know, Tortillious’ habitat is largely under her bed. Her bed is a loft bed and she want to be up high again, instead of closer to the floor. This simple renovation turned out to be space saving. I eliminated a small part of the habitat, made a new wall out of old vertical blinds and hot glue and viola`, a very happy little girl.
I asked her last night if she believes all of the scientist and people who have studied tortoises when they say that a tortoise can’t hear. Very carefully I told her that I believe them. Did she believe me?
"Mom!, It’s not like I don’t believe you. Yes, I know he can’t really hear me but….. I can’t explain it."
"I was just checking Sweety to see if you understood, but I think I understand you too. You feel so connected to him that it is the same as if he could hear you. Is that right?" "Yes, I, just can’t explain how it feels."
That’s okay, I agree with you too. And I love how you feel so strongly about it. I believe you.

In Sandy soil I plant this seed, If even only I do heed.
In death is life; won’t be denied, grown by tears of sorrow cried.
The truth is harsh, the babes are dead, I’ll hold mine closer in their stead.
It’s all I have and know to do. I don’t admit those lives are through.
I will not waste this plot of land, it will not wither ‘neath my hand.
Come here my Love, look in my eyes,
Do you know how dear you are to me….?
I hate how time always seems to move faster during breaks than during a work week. It sounds like you’re getting a good mix of relaxation and productivity. Enjoy what’s left of it. Regarding the tortoise, I’m obviously behind. Did the hearing thing come up because The Babe likes to talk to him?

Sometimes breaks arent really breaks. Glad you’re getting caught up on stuff though. And what a great deal on the clothes for the play I know you are glad of that.

That there rollin the clothes to pack is an Army trick! lol wow as I read this I feel a bit sad for you working on Spring Break but, alas, that is what I am doing too on mine 🙁 God, I can’t wait to be done with this semester. Your attitude is so much better than mine! So the tortoise is back? where was he lost too? I’m glad! Once again your creativity is cool!
