I speak with a list
Today is the first day of Thanksgiving break for me. Ten whole days of not going to school unless I want to. This year is so much better than last and I feel as though I have worked for two years to get to this point of being able to start getting my function caught up to my obligations.
Something about knowing you don’t HAVE to get up and do, energizes me. Last night when Chuck came home from work he walked into the kitchen and in his very articulate manner pronounced, "Wow."
Baby, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
The spirit of time off has been moving me for a few while. Last week end, inspired by The Babe’s 10 " puddle of decoupage glue on the living room carpet, I rented a steam cleaner. While the machine and I were both letting off steam and necessarily moving furniture I realized that it had been a very long time since I had rearranged the furniture. I have a "nice" living room but that is not the best word to describe it’s ability to play well with others. One of it’s strong points is not versatility, so we have had the furniture facing the the same boring way for nearly two years. It dawned on me though that with the Xbox on the fritz we don’t really use our T-rex of a T-v for anything but watching video’s.
I pointed out to The Babe that as Ma Ingalls always said,"There is no great loss without some small gain." My living room is friendly now. The T-rex is in front of the fireplace temporarily. The room is inviting and warm. Sometimes a girl just needs a make over to feel special. Every time I look at that room I pick up a thing and put it away out of respect for beauty. And you know what beauty does; it grows, it stretched it’s long branching tentacles throughout the house to other rooms as if Bacchus himself were directing them. The house began to shimmer and shine and laugh from the intoxication and contagious merriment of restored enlightenment. That is not an exaggeration, I had forgotten how good really clean felt.
This, my first morning, was not wasted sleeping in. It is 8:43 a.m.
Since everyone else went to bed I have:
reviewed math and reading curriculum for The Babe’s vacation time home schooling regime.
continued laundry
begun a Christmas present list for The Babe
sorted papers in my office
Searched on line for things to make and sell at a yard sale Chuck and I are going to have on the school property the day after Thanksgiving (gotta get rid of more books)
Got a good nights rest
cleaned a bathroom
continued laundry
cleaned out the refrigerator (OH YEAH!)
cleaned the trash can lid
In about an hour I am going to take Knickers to get a sonogram. Bootyboy has a basketball game. Lucky for me! We should be able to find out the gender this time. As knickers says, we are staying until we see.
I am not going to put the list of every thing I want to accomplish here since I seem to be flowing along just fine. I don’t want to break my stride you know. But as I accomplish things I will indulge in the satisfaction of watching the dun-it list grow.
I hope you are all have the best week end available to you. If not, do one thing right. I’ll send Bacchus over.
I need to work on my dun-it list. There is such a good feeling that goes with it. Enjoy your break.

Guess I should turn of the computer and follow suit. I need to do most of what is on your list. 😀 Have a great weekend!

I do love crossing things off the list an enumerating the things I’ve done. That’s probably why I write such boring entries. Sounds like you’re on an awesome roll.

Seems like a lot to do, but it’s always a great feeling when something is finally accomplished!

How is your break going? Hoping you enjoy it and get to rest lots! RYN – I am thinking I may try Esty next year. It looks like you post things that are already made so I could knit through the Winter and sell them next Fall. I didn;’t really start knitting to sell but just wanted something productive to do. I have given more away than what I have sold. I have some new patterns to try though!
