Father’s Day Grind

I had a good Father’s Day yesterday, though at one point my wife tried to ruin it with her complaining.

My wife, as per usual, had a ton of errands to run, so my son and I went to Applebee’s for lunch; a real father and son moment. I brought the leftovers home, which my wife saw in the frig when she came home. Because she wanted to make some appetizers, without telling me beforehand, she was pissed at me that we were no longer hungry, as if we weren’t going to eat lunch. Nice.

While we were at Applebee’s, my son revealed to me that the $1000 that his rich uncle on his mother’s side had given him as a graduation present was almost gone. He was supposed to save that for college expenses, etc. What made it worse is that his mother knew that it was being spent and lied to me about it when she said that he was not spending it and saving up for college (without a job). Nice.

As a little background info, my 18 year old son got his driver’s license last December after his 18th birthday. He made a deal with his mom and I that he would get a part time job to pay for his own car insurance. He has yet to get a job, as he hasn’t fulfilled his part of the agreement. His mom has been paying his car insurance all this time. Apparently, she’s been taking it out of the $1000 for college instead of telling him NOT to drive or taking him off her car insurance. His mom is basically a good person, but she is DRASTICALLY out of touch with reality. She always has been and won’t change. That fact is part of the reason why we are no longer married. What color is the sky in your world?

So, in spite of current wife’s hissy fit about us eating lunch, and my ex-wife spending money that she doesn’t have that was earmarked for our son’s education expenses, I had a decent Father’s Day. Well, I got in some Combat Arms gaming time anyway, so it wasn’t a total loss. lol

Sorry to say but your son is spoiled by his mother.

$1,000 as a graduation gift?! WOW. Well, at least it wasn’t spent on stupid stuff. But still, I understand where you’re coming from.

How do they expect a child to take on responsibilities if they keep bailing them out? A co worker of mine is still paying for her 30 something year old son.

RYN: My preferred kicks remain the front snap and both forms of sidekick (direct and reverse). The fun comes from cancelling and chaining one into the next. My problem has always been my comparatively short legs, which forces me to use my “long range” kicks at what is other people’s “short” range, and my circular kicks become too easy to counter. That, and I used to be the lightest male in class.

oh that’s not good about the ex. How is your son supposed to learn the value of a dollar if mama keeps coddling him… sometimes I just don’t understand people.
