Okay, anyone who feels that putting Col. Tigh in charge of the Resistance is just a nice way to finish off humanity once and for all, raise your hands. I mean, let’s face it, the last time  we put Tigh in charge of something important, the first thing he did was lose the fleet, then he incited mutiny on the part of the civilian gov’t and his command staff. The webisodes at this point aren’t exactly enhacing my feelings about his leadership ability. I mean, how many guns are they hiding, like four? And what’s the plan?

Not that I’m complaining. I thoroughly love having the webisodes as some small fix of Galactica until the season premiere in October. Especially since we’re seeing more of the Chief and Cally (I’d love to see Cally do more though) In general, the show rocks. Hardcore. Everything you need in a good sci fi dark future: action, angst, death.

I wonder if we’ll keep any of the new characters introduced in the webisodes when the series premieres. It’d be kind of nice to see cameos. Or at least get some touching death scenes as they are all obliterated in their charging of the fortress.

All of this makes me think about my writing. Can I create something so gripping people are willing to wait six months on the edge of their seats for the next installment? As a novelist, I’m really going to have to do better than that. My readers are likely to be waiting a year for their next hit. Maybe longer. Alas, I’m not nearly as productive as Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb, able to kick out a hit every three to six months or so. I’d love to write and revise two books a year. And I could do it too, if I wasn’t so lazy. I wrote a novel in a month. The fact that revisions are taking so long is really a testement to my short attention span I think.

In Summation:

  • Battlestar Rocks.
  • Col. Tigh may herald the end of humanity.
  • Vash wants to write two novels a year.

Off to bed.
