Summer inferno!
May isn’t over yet, but Summer is basically here. Memorial Day is past and the past few days have had temperatures in the 90’s. Meanwhile the Science Center has rolled out its Summer of Irresponsible Science shirts: bright pink monstrosities with goofy looking science guys on the back and a slogan that says “Stand Back, I’m about to do science.” And “Don’t try this at home. Try it here!” Pink isn’t normally my color of choice, but they t-shirts are lighter than the polo short we wear normally, at least.
Other stuff…
I’ve been playing Diablo 3 a lot lately, but I’m quite disappointed with it. The basics of the game are good – classic Diablo style and atmosphere – but it’s really lacking in substance. Despite having cool character classes, the story makes no sense and is terribly paced. In addition, the items are poorly balanced and, despite the fact that I have yet to see any legendary or super rare items, they’re usually weaker than the random enchanted ones you pick up just by farming monsters. Last comes a big gripe that a lot of people have been whining about: the online only DRM. I wouldn’t mind as much if the servers were up more often, but they were down the day the game got delivered (day it came out), down the following Thursday when I had an afternoon off, and they’re down again today. I know stuff happens, but I can’t even play my hardcore character because the lag nearly gets her killed. Ah well. Sounds like it’s Torchlight for me from now on! Or less video games in general. That would definitely be a good thing.
I haven’t been dancing in a couple of weeks because of the cold I had and some other scheduling issues. I definitely want to get back soon, but things are so busy now that I’m getting ready to leave again! Everyone wants a slice of my time. Friends want to party and go to the beach, mom wants me to go to Ocean City with them and meet acquantances that have lived in Hawaii before, and I totally still need to visit my friend Zachary who’s back from Japan. It’s going to be an interesting couple of months, at least.
