October begins
Autumn is back! After preferring Summer most of my life, I’ve come to love autumn as my favorite season as I’ve grown older. The weather is so vibrant, warm during the day and cool during the evening, and full of such color! I love the falling leaves, the pumpkins, and the smell of wood burning in fireplaces. It’s also the time of year when people go back to school.
I used to dread that feeling when I was a kid – waiting to return to my studies and bid the freedom of Summer farewell – but as an adult I’m glad to return to class. The bill for it is going to suck, but studying Physics again is truly exciting. Now, I’m thinking about PhD programs and more advanced research. There’s no telling if anything will come of it, but it seems like a more realistic goal now that I’m actually into the swing of things again.
Autumn is also an excellent time for writing. I’ve been working on my NaNoWriMo from last year, trying to edit the text and make it more coherent, and I’m also pondering doing it again this year. I’ve generally tried every year since Freshman year of college, but some have been more successful than others. This year I don’t see any reason why I might not succeed, but I also really want to work on the text I have in front of me. It’s just too bad I procratinated so far up to this point. Hopefully I’ll make some progress over the coming weeks.
That’s all for today. Off to a night’s rest and a morning at the Science Center.
