Zealous Advocacy or are You Just Happy to See Me?

Last night i had my evening class, trial advocacacy and practice. It began like any other class, the Prof. talking a bit here and there, mumbling phrases i could care less about, looking at me with burning distaste for my general apathetic appearance, and the pseudogenuine "we are going to get to know each other during the first class."

Well, Prof. Clever decided it would be fun to do a direct examination of a fellow student, to both inquire into the details of ones background and such, and also, to improve (or initially demonstrate) our skills at direct examination.

So, the prof paired us up; i was eventually paired off with this firecracker of a girl, K. After 2 groups took their turn, it was E’s turn to show his magic. So i went first.  Of course, my whole "im going to do the least amount i possibly could" kicked it, so i asked the broad question (after making her state her name) "why did you come to law school." And like most people, she just talkedtalkedtalked….

Things took an interesting, if not awry turn when i became the witness:

K: State your name for the record.

E: E.

(Insert a few random questions about background here)

K: Did you come to law school with a significant other?

E: I did, though i should say in all fairness, its over now.

K: So, you are available then?

E: Yes, i guess i am…

(small smile from K)

K: And for the record whats your phone number?

(Insert E’s jawdropping here)

—Hahaha, mind you this was in front of the whole class. Definitely one of the most hysterical (and shocking) moments of law school, and perhaps the top one of all. Of course, it touched my vanity in exactly the right spot, so, overall i’m quite glad it happened. Ah yes, i love girls with that kind of audacity. I’m going to love trial.

Oodles o’ love,

Erotique

Objection! She was leading an awful lot for a direct exam. 😉
