New Years Tidings, Joy and Pleasantries
I (of course) went home for christmas. In fact, I had a total of 11 days off work. It was wonderful.
I spent that time with my family, and briefly, with my friends.
Christmas is what it is these days, it (sadly) will never be the same as it used to be with Grandma. Still, the family getting together, playing drinking games and smiling is a beautiful thing.
New years was fun, I went out to a local bar with the family. It ended as it always does with my family, with us being kicked out. I smiled so much. Oh how I missed home.
But I’m only included those little bytes because the majority of this entry is about this weekend.
I went down to Saint Louis this weekend. I hung out with some old friends from law school. And a met a girl. (sorta)
I should say, I met a girl I like. Which, (like always) has me smiling.
I’m off my kilter though…because she is the first real "lawyer" who I can honestly say I have a crush on. Its so fun! We danced. Played arcade games, and I couldn’t keep my eyes off her. I am smiling so much.
I spent saturday night playing darts at blueberry hill, thinking back to the days of law school (since that was one of my favorite hangouts then) and overall thinking that I missed Saint Louis,
I’ve been doing alot of "soul searching" as it were. With C finally out of my life I’m no longer in stasis. And this weekend showed me that I need to get back to the big city, at the least.
I love my job here. I love being a professor. But the rest of my life is slowing eroding in this small time, in subtle ways which I can’t really describe. I spend my weekdays in my apartment here, mostly alone. This is not the life I envisioned. This is one of those places people come to and disappear. I don’t want to disappear. But I need to kick it up a bit.
So….I’ve decided to apply for jobs back in the City. We shall see how it goes!
Sunday I went with my friends snowboarding. I haven’t been snowboarding in 13 years. Apparently that is not a skill one retains. I hurt. badly. But man, it was fun! I started on this kiddie slope. Did ok. Then i switched to the hard slopes. Did not do ok. At one point, skidded off the slope. Not fun. Well…fun…but painful. I only wished I had taken pictures…..
Tommorrow I have court in two different places. Another busy day. Another busy week. Forcible rape trial the day after my birthday (Feb 11).
I received a ton of great christmas presents. Suits. Ties. A new blanket for my bed. I am indeed old when these gifts make me smile. In fact….I think this is the first year I did not get anything video-game related. Truly, transitional.
I hope everyone had as great of a holiday as I did.
Oodles o’ love,
Erotique
My favorite gifts this year were kitchen related.
