pops head above surface…
… Helloo!
My “interview” went exceptionally well although it was just a formality. My training is on Friday morning which I’m looking forward to and, in a couple of weeks, I’ll be a proper learning supporter on for Sound Check – unpaid of course, but great experience for me and, hopefully, a great experience for the kids too…
Spanish was tonight. We have a great new group of people and, thankfully, the creep hasn’t joined this year. We are of varying levels but all able to keep a prolonged conversation going. We have some old peeps (four of us who have been together for three years now) and several new faces which is causing some wonderful dynamics, some new opinions and knowledge bases and great discussions. Loving it 🙂 this years course is an advanced conversation course and, for next week, we have to research how drug cartels have influenced (positively and negatively) their countries. A great alternative way to look at drugs.
What else? My girls are fab – Tal started getting into trouble at school again last week but seems to have got over it… For now. We have talked about implementing a behaviour chart upon which our girls can earn pocket money. What are anyone else’s opionins on this?
I’m sure there must be a gazillion other things to tell you, but I have no idea what they are!
So, for now. Goodnight 🙂
well since you asked, I think money for good grades is a great incentive but you shouldn’t really have to pay for better behavior. Just sayin, but I also did not try this so you may have success with it. I don’t know anyone who has either so maybe you could let us know. That research assignment sounds great there are so many sides to everything and more than one way to look at things -even rewards

huh?

I am not a parent, so am adding a pound of salt to this, but I know from my own history, the workplace, and dog training that the more tangible the reward, the stronger the incentive. I realize that the whole “bribery” question raises a different set of issues in the family setting, though.

We used to do tokens and they could cash them in for money, Alex went mental getting hundreds a day, Beth threw a tantrum and threw hers away, Katie was too lazy to even bother with them, so the morale of that story is, they are who they are and nothing changes. But its a good idea, its how the real world works

Apparently Scotland is the drug capital of the world, Spain is second, and Iran is third. A behaviour child is a good idea. I’m sure they’ll be happy to earn their pocket money by being good!

Your Spanish class sounds great. I really want to do French A level… One day! Ryn… Ah yes, we have ‘my divert fell off’ too! Oh, and ‘I fell out of bed’ (while awake!!) 😀 X

awesome on the position and Spanish class, we will pay for chores and odd jobs, but not good behaviour, but ha’s just us, have a great day!

every parent has to figure out their own way of doing things… if a good behavior chart works for you, then use it..

Wow you sound like you must be pretty fluent now (in Spanish, not drugs lol). Have never used a chart as I always forget. R & L earn money, 20p and 2p respectively, for tidying their room. I’d leave school stuff at school unless the school asks you to tackle it at home too. I very much doubt she’s that troublesome at school! X

Ryn you had a mis payment too? Halifax website was playing up the day I made the payment (same day as tsb website crashed) and they tried to blame me! I did get £23 compensation and the interest etc repayed. They also removed note on my credit score. I was fuming! X

twas:so many sides to every thing and more than one way to look at things– even rewards huh? huh means like: What do you think -or do you agree? or What? –like what did you say–huh? I had just ran out of space in the previous reply box to fit that word in there. huh is kind of a regional word or expression that I know Minnesotans and Wisconsinites are famous for saying. The whole country

–or barely any of the country says it but we up Nort. lol

I remember having to do a behaviour chart for my youngest son. But at the time we did it with gold stars, and then if he managed to get so many in the week (i forget what the number was!) He got a little treat at the weekend. It worked eventually, but took a while lol. Good news about the interview 🙂

My neighbour does a jar with glass pebbles. When the jar is full, you get to pick your treat. Toy, trip, movies… then you work very hard to fill your “bucket” again. (There’s a book the school promotes called “filling your bucket” or such.) I have a book that after I read, I have to mail to you! I had the pleasure of an englishman knock on my door on a working holiday whereupon he was pedalling his self published novel. It’s about how a two month cycling trip ended up lasting eight years and spanned the world. Sounded right up your alley! And in case you’re wondering how an englishman ended up at my door, he immigrated in the seventies, LOL.

RYN: *Laughs* I do… and an overdue christmas card sitting on my bookshelf in the living room! He signed it too; just the conversation we had on my porch, he was a very interesting man 🙂
