[o44] Happy New Year!
So today was my mother’s side of the family’s Christmas party. That was a clusterfuck. My cousin who hosted the party threw a hissy fit because her pot roast didn’t come out the way she wanted it to. So she slammed a few cabinets, swore a little, and locked herself in the bathroom for an hour. My mother was not impressed. Her and my other cousin Melissa were so disgusted by everything. They’re the only two that make any effort and they decided that starting next year, we’re just going to have a small party with my Mother (and her immediate family, including me and Tom), my cousin Melissa (and her immediate family), and my Grammy. There has been a lot of drama and craziness on my mother’s side of the family for years, and this just kind of broke the camel’s back. Nothing was fun. People were just there to be there. There’s no sense of family anymore except with a small group of us. No one wants to help with my Grammy when things get tough, and so it’s done. They say blood is thicker than water, but… sometimes when people aren’t making an effort to be decent human beings, you just have to let go. And so… I guess we are. (There’s a TON of stuff that’s gone on in this family that I’m not including here, so don’t just think it’s this one party that made my family decide to part ways. Just trust me, it’s bad).
So after the party, my mother and father went to see Jersey Boys and so Tom and I went to their place to "babysit" my brother and Grammy. That was pretty cool. I ended up watching three movies with my Grammy and we got to spend some quality time together. It was nice. Tom played video games with my brother and then conked out on the couch. Then when my parents got home, we left.
And now I’m off to bed. What a hectic day.
.xoxo.
