update

They sent my computer back. There is nothing on it. I’m trying to be zen about it, but it’s hard when I lost all my non-Prague pictures and my iTunes and the list of funny roommate quotes that goes back to freshman year and all my old school papers and videos of my grandpa and my kitten when she was a kitten and pretty much anything I’ve written since 2003 that I didn’t stick somewhere on the internet. And they replaced my keyboard, for some reason, and one of the buttons is crooked. If I hadn’t happened to have burned a bunch of Prague pictures onto a CD so that I could show them to Melanie, I would probably be packing up and moving into a tree just about now.

Please tell me nice comforting things. Like how this is not worth getting upset over because there are many worse things that could happen to me in the world. I bought new sneakers today which are part orange and I saw my friend Brandan who I hadn’t seen since December and we talked about rhinos and it’s okay. Yeah? Seriously, tell me about kittens or something.

With the superb quality of your images I commiserate with you completely. I taught photography at UCLA and what I have seen of your work is excellent. You’ll make other and probably even better images in the future. But that’s a miserable consolation when you look at the loss. I lost 3,500+ of my negs in a fire.
