Poem: Nightly

Finally! A new poem. Hopefully, here’s to many more. I must write. Daily.

This is the great divide –

Between sheets of bed
And sheets of poetry
Where heads lay on muffled metaphors
Where words unseen meet behind closed eyelids
Syntax, synapse and memory

Amatory emulation
Our silhouetted fragments spark
Is it phosphene? Neurons charging?
We are light and excitable
Censoriously palatable and stimulated
My silent- chemical romance – You and I

Don’t mind the gaping hole
Take no notice, you and I are far apart
My unanchored text, your non-reply, our disjointed hearts
I alone, move slow and steady
Yet you rush over me when darkness falls
When darkness falls…

Here is where I’ll make it up to you (and oh, I do)
Here is where you’ll let me
Between the crater of my mind
And the peak of my brow
Scores and scenes of meter and rhyme
Our kindred spirits unite

This is my poem to you
A nightly ritual of sorts
The tip of Wordplay scrawled between tongue and cheek
Where pen nor voice dare not
Sentimental and bittersweet
How you stir my memory
