 Random thought: Sharon Van Etten reminds me of Kristin Hersh. That’s a big mighty yes. 

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these but figured, why not! It’s interesting to see how our answers vary over the years. Change, in moderation, is a good thing. Too much of it will make you crazy. True story. 

 1.   do you follow directions? if so do you follow them well?  I try…but I’m directionally challenged.

 2. what is your favorite song?- Too many to list. It depends on my mood. Collectively, Tori’s songs still reach me at a level where most songs fail.

 3. what is your favorite movie?- I’ve gotten better at watching movies on repeat. I’m quite fond of Amelie and recently, The Help

 4. do you have a favorite quote? "everything happens for a reason" – yup…. I suppose it’s still that.

 5. favorite color? –This has changed… it’s now purple. Don’t know why but that’s what I’ve been gravitating towards with my wardrobe. That and other winter colours (teal, grey, etc)

 6. favorite time period? – Victorian. When people were more civilized towards others and spoken/ written words felt more like poetry

 7. do you like classical music?– yes, very much

 8. do you believe in past lives?- I do.

 9. do you like to walk?- Yes – just not on a road without a shoulder!

 10. who is your favorite poet?- Still Emily Dickinson and Adrienne Rich

 11. what is the first thing you do when waking? Look at the ground. I’ll never forget when M said it best ‘every pavement is a narrative’

 12. what is your favorite food? –Burmese, Thai, Indian, Pasta, Pizza

 13. are you for/against capital punishment? Against

 14. are you affliated with a politcal party? I’m fiscally conservative with a strong liberal leaning mind

 15. are you a realist or dreamer? I used to be a dreamer but the pressures of reality got the best of me. That said, I still dream…

 16. what is the first experience you remember? Meeting my first childhood friend at age 2. I standing on the stairway of my babysitter’s basement and saw a little girl playing with a plastic phone in the corner.

 17. do you have a favorite medium of art?- I don’t discriminate mediums of art

 18. if you were told tomorrow that you would lose all speech except for 10 words, what words would you hold onto? -yes, no, stop, love, imagination, take, true, listen, silence, and beautiful.

 19. what element do you prefer….water, air, land, fire?- water

 20. do you remember you first kiss? if so, when and with whom?- I think at the roller skating rink when I was in grade school

ment?- Listening to A Sorta Fairytale by Tori Amos at work (yes, I should be working but need a break to kick start my brain)

 22. what is your favorite season?- Fall

 23. favorite hot drink and cold drink? -Tea and Milk

 24. do you play with your hair? if so, how?- My hair is short now but I love running my fingers through it – especially when I’m tired

 26. what shoes are you wearing right now?- customized hightop converse. Yes – custom designed just for me!

 30. what is your favorite article of clothing?- In the winter – sweaters and socks. In the summer, t-shirts

 35. what is your greatest fear? -I’m a little scared of death, unfortunately
 36. what is your greatest joy?- music, writing, being near loved ones

 39. favorite artist? – Used to be Frida Kahlo…now I’m not so certain since I haven’t taken the time to discover new artists. Note to self.
 40. how many siblings do you have? -1 full brother, 1 half brother, 2 step-sisters, 2 step-brothers
 41. how old are your parents? are they still together (horrible, question, huh)- My mom is 51, my father, 54 and my step-father, 62
 42. did you go to a public or private school? – Both
 43. tell me three words that best describes you. Quiet, kind, understanding
 44. what has been your greatest achievement thus far? –I found true love…now ask me what my greatest failure is and I’ll tell you I lost it
 45. do you like children?- yes, very much

 51. tell me one dream you remember having– M and I on an outing with children that are our own. There’s a picnic and a forested surrounding with butterflies, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the kids, of which I cannot have since I’m allergic to peanuts… and butterfly catchers.

52. do you sing/dance?- I rarely sing in front of people and I’m a pretty good dancer actually…so that I don’t mind doing in public!

 54. do you paint?- Yes, though I don’t know how well these days
 55. do you prefer shoes or barefoot– As much as I crave to say barefoot, my feet are sensitive and need to be protected

 57. do you want to have children someday?- Yes
 58. do you believe in the sanctuary of marriage?- I do….believe it or not. Commitment should mean something and sadly people too easily forget that. Yes, I know…I failed at it too.

 60. are you religious and if so what religion do you practice?- no, i’m not religious. Religion fascinates me, but i don’t practice it. I am spiritual though…

 72. what is the most important thing to you– Um… I guess Toby. I should say my family, right? I see Toby on a daily basis so you know…it’s all relative… hehe
 73. "what are you and would you be anything other than what you are?"- I am kind, understanding, patient and helpful. I am smart, loving, practical, methodical. I am sensitive, shy, passionate. I am determined. I am loyal… Have I practiced these things in the past… no, not always. Last year I hated myself. This year I’m beginning to love myself again.
 74. what inspires you? -music, words, connections

 78. bite your fingernails?- A habit I only started last year!
 79. are you passive or active?- a little passive i think…until inspired
 80. are you quiet/outgoing?- mostly quiet. Depends on the company i’m holding.

 84. if you had a theme song, what would it be? – I can’t believe I’m going to quote a pop song but here goes ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!’
 85. do you have a favorite painting? I have several, mostly surreal and abstract
 86. do you have any regrets? if so what?- It used to be no but now, yes. I regret hurting M, hurting us, destroying our relationship, etc

you feel you could give expert advice or opinion on? if so, what? -no, i think everyone’s opinions mean more than expert advice.
 88. tell me 5 things you’d like to learn – Burmese, guitar, cooking (at least better than what I can do now), how to work tools and do DIY(because I just bought a house!) and more history
 89. give me 4 traits that you feel makes you different than any other person you’ve encountered thus far. Um… I can only think of one. I have a tendency to dream about things before they actually happen. Problem is, I don’t realize it until I’m already in the moment.
 90. do you smoke cigs? – I went through a period (especially with Alan) where I was smoking more but before that I was always a social smoker…smoking only when others were and if alcohol was present. That said, I haven’t had one in well over a year now.
 91. what is your stance on pot?- Legalize it. But that’s also something I haven’t had in years. The last time was with M back in Philly. Somehow we managed to get candle wax all over us…and no, not in a kinky kind of way.

92. do you ever rest your head in your hands?- all the time.
 93. when in deep thought, do you ever place your fingers to your lips? –I play with my lips way too much.
 94. when do you feel relaxed? –when I drink coffee, listen to music, hear rain against a roof, when I’m near a large body of water, when I’m hiking, etc…
 95. do you doodle?- My doodles all look the same. Very strange.
 96. how would you describe your voice? – When I was a radio DJ at University I used to get compliments on it all the time but I honestly don’t know how to describe it.
 97. give me one word that you detest – any derogatory word or phrase. It hurts my ears.  
 98. do you dream in color? -Yes
 99. astrology or anthropology?- I love them both
 100. how do you conduct yourself when knowing you’re being studied?- I become more aware of what I’m doing and stiffen up
 101. if given the choice, what time would you wake up?- Early so that I could see the sunrise and have a full day ahead of me…but that doesn’t always happen. I like my sleep too much.
 102. do you prefer sleep walking or life waking?- I’m all too often in my own world, even when I’m awake. And I think that annoys some people…
 103. do you remember the first poem you wrote, if so, what is it?- Yes. I was in 5th grade and the title was “Happiness Is”
 104. do you have any nervous habits? –I tap my feet a lot or rub my arm and neck.
 105. are you soft spoken or do you project your voice?- I’m soft spoken unless I’m at work…then I’m more assertive
 106. do you think there is only one person for someone or multiple people? -i think there’s one person that you will connect with more than anyone else, but i don’t believe that there’s only ONE person anymore….sadly…
 107. do you like mythology and if so do you have a favorite god/goddess? Artemis
 108. do you gravitate more towards yourself or others?- myself i think…
 109. do you have an image of the person you’d like to call your soulmate? if so, what is that image? – Yes, but she doesn’t like me to use that word!
 110. what does your bedroom look like? – At the moment, there’s a bed frame and two closets full of suitcases.

 111. are there any particular songs that bring you back to a specific time/date? if so, what? Almost every song can bring me back to a specific time/date. Sometimes it’s a blessed-curse.

112. do you listen to national public radio?- Every morning on the way to work.
 113. do you have a favorite television program you watch?- How I met Your Mother, Glee, Gray’s Anatomy, 30 Rock, History Channel, National Geographic Channel, Nova….but I haven’t been watching any TV lately…
 114. do you drive and if so what car do you have?- Yes – A BMW X3
