Twelve Twelve Twelve

I need to make this quick so I can leave work for the evening.

I got sick two weekends ago and although I didn’t die I sure felt bad.  It was some sort of intestinal thing, I might have had a touch of food poisoning.  My bragging about not having serious stomach issues for so many years came back to haunt me.  If I could have thrown up at the beginning of all that I would probably have saved myself several days of wondering if it was possible to actually shit an intestine ala "cough up a lung."

But I did manage to live through it, so that was good.

I’ve found another hobby, but I haven’t started it. Chain mail jewelry.  You take small rings of metal, hook them together to form really neat patterns and shapes and voila!  We had an associate holiday craft show at work and someone from another department was selling her chain mail braclets and necklaces.  I was amazed at how intricate they looked and I got hooked on the idea of making some myself.  I bought several thousand aluminum rings on Ebay and as soon as they arrive I intend to practice making neat stuff and then get some much nicer (i.e. more expensive) stainless steel or silver rings to make the final products.  Mrs. Ender is going to be chain mailed up.  If you google "byzantine classic chain mail weave" you can get an idea of what this stuff looks like.

Soap is going good.  We started using a bar of the hurricane honeysuckle a couple days ago and although I’m not crazy about the scent (it’s still really strong), I do like the feel of the soap.  It feels great and very conditioning.  The amount of bubbles/foam is also impressive for how long (short) it’s been drying out, it usually takes many more weeks before you get good bubbles.  The pumpkin pie soap still needs to dry out more–it was cold process versus the hot process for the hurricane soap–but it sure smells like pumpkin pie.

Sometime between now and the end of the weekend I will be making a couple more batchs.  I will definitely be making a batch of ginger-orange either with or without orange zest mixed in.  I’ll probably make a batch of peppermint or spearmint scented soap that I’ll put in the half-price christmas cookie molds I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  The soap won’t be ready by christmas, but there’s no law against using soap out of season, or using unseasoned soap.

Work is doing it’s best to kick my ass.  We are going through a reorganization and I could be out of a job before the end of next year.  This has been going on since May of this year and although no staffing changes have been made–all the actually reorganization will take place in 2013, 2012 was just for planning–it hasn’t been a very enjoyable time and it’s just going to get rougher.  At what point do you throw your work colleagues under the bus in order to preserve your own job?  Decisions, decisions.

There are only about 108 more days before the 2013 opening day of National’s Baseball, but who’s counting?  If anyone hears that the Nats have signed Adam LaRoche, please drop me a line.  I can’t be watching the sport’s news wire ALL day.

Other than that, I’ve got little or nothing.

Ender is out.
