Painting

For Mother’s Day I decided to paint my Mum’s beloved dog, Dasher.  Here is a photo of her. She is a whippet.

And here is my painting. It is oil on canvas and measures about 60cm (24inch) by 45cm (18 inch).

It is the first time I’ve ever really painted a painting (other than in kindergarten, lol).

Also the first time I used oil paints. To my shock I learned that they take 6months to one year to dry fully!

Oh well, I like the ability to smudge the colours. I like what oils can do.

Anyway, it turned out better than I thought.

Soife was so cute, she kept exclaiming like a hundred times what a masterpiece it is.

Maybe I’ll do more?

Wow, looking at it it’s hard to believe you’ve never done one before! You should definitely do more, especially if it’s something you enjoy 🙂

do more! i’ve found that art (esp. painting) is very soothing when i’m feeling anxious, and you certainly have the talent for it. happy mother’s day!

Wow it’s amazing Brookie! I can’t believe you did that! Wow! So impressed…. =) Definately paint somemore. I recently purchased a small oil painting and didn’t really believe the guy when he said it took a lot of work. Hee hee. Guess I was wrong… 1 year to dry sounds mad!

that’s a great painting. you should comtinue. i prefer acrylics. it’s harder to get them to smudge but it’s doable.
