Fighting Season

My husband and I always used to have big blow up arguments about once a year. We wouldn’t speak for three days and then it was over, and we would be fine until the next year. We haven’t done that in about 8 years now. HOWEVER . . . yesterday, we started the day with a fight about quantum mechanics and argued over the speed of light and other dimensions (I kid you not!) …we didn’t speak for an hour or so and then later on somehow got into a fight about Jesus and whether he IS God or is the SON of God. (is he our father or our brother???) …so we didn’t speak for a while after that. BUT THEN…the big blow up round 3 happened.

We got in a huge fight because he wanted to melt paperclips into plastic to fix a fridge door shelf bar that a tenant had broken. Now, this is something my husband saw on youtube…you heat the plastic and melt the paperclip into it. LAST time he did this, there were toxic fumes because melted LEAD gives off toxic fumes and melted plastic gives off toxic fumes, and we had a fight at that time! So yesterday, he was going to do this again and I said, No, absolutely NOT! He got mad because of me “telling him what to do” and said, “I wish you would shut up!”

Well, I don’t believe that is the proper way to speak to someone you love. I would never say something that rude to him! And I don’t allow him to say something that rude to me! So, I said, “Fine, if you want me to shut up, I won’t speak to you again!” and he said, “That would be nice!” …so, he ignored me (as usual) all day, and then at bedtime said, “Good night I love you.” It is a habitual saying we exchange each night. But lately I don’t feel like he really means it.

Yesterday he criticized me for saying “I put my overthinking skills in action,” and said I was “bragging!” LOL HE is the one that has constantly criticized me for years for overthinking and now he says I’m bragging about it!

I must say, for our age, we have the stupidest fights ever! LOL
