80 Book Giveaways

So, I decided to put about 5 books on free kindle giveways for five days. The first giveaway of about five or six books ends tomorrow (the 19th) and then tomorrow I have the first of a five-day giveaway of Brothers of Atlantis on Kindle.

I decided to give away all these ebooks at once for a reason. First, it tells authors thinking about submitting to my company what kinds of books we publish. It gives them a chance to read them. For free. If they want.

Secondly, and surprisingly, it has shown me what readers really want.  Despite my company being a Canadian publishing company able to only publish Canadian authors at the moment, nearly all of the free downloads were from readers within the US and the other other 2% were from the UK. Secondly, I never even promoted this giveaway.

All I did was run a very brief FB post boost saying that A Big Five House Publishers Inc. is a proudly Canadian company. I didn’t say a thing about the book giveaway because at the time I boosted the post, I hadn’t had the idea of the book giveaway. The only way anyone would even know about the free ebooks would be if they went to my website and browsed around. Or if Amazon pointed it out.

But anyway, I did not advertize these free giveaways anywhere in any way (I didn’t even mention it to my family or friends, or even on here until now) and I’ve had 80 free downloads (as I write this).

This giveaway of multiple books and genres at once has shown me what my readers prefer, which is contemporary women’s fiction/romance. Zoey Starting Over and Zoey Quits Again (by Aspen Faraway) has had the most downloads. This series is about a strong woman, Zoey, who has no problem quitting toxic jobs, dumping toxic boyfriends, and pursuing her life on her own terms.

So, the giveway ends tomorrow and it will be interesting to see the final tally on all the titles.
