Visiting old friends

What a surprise when an old OD friend on instagram told me OD was back!

Well hello!

I don’t see many of you here.

Personally the subscription is enough to put me off but it’s nice to have a month free and rekindle, even ever so briefly, old friendships.

I don’t see an add media box above my tool bar…sigh…I’d love to add a photo of my stunning children. I’m officially the shortest in the family.

More news in brief to fill you in on the last few years (oh my, time has flown):

  • I’m still happy (and sane) and working – full time at present and so I have little time for diaries.
  • My daughter-in-law has moved out and remarries next month.
  • My son bought her share, and so my two youngest and myself rattle around in a 7 bedroom house.
  • We’re doing an air bnb in the unused half of the house, and of course, friends and family use it frequently.
  • The garden is still largely undeveloped but I hope to start working on that soon.
  • My dear mother died of cancer a year ago. I nursed her here at home. It was a difficult but extremely rewarding experience that drew our whole family together. The coffin was home made and hand painted by us. We never engaged a funeral director. I was fortuante to have 8 weeks off work at the end, and enough paid leave accrued to afford it. I would absolutely do it again.
  • I’m fortunate not to do shift work anymore. I work as a clinical midwife specialist in lactation and have normal hours…but I still have bad sleep habits, and I’m still trying to change them.

Drop me a note if you find me. I’d love to hear how you are.

Elfin.

It is nice to be back. I was put off at first by the subscription but was okay with it the more I thought about it.

There is a way to add media when writing an entry!

Hope you enjoy reconnecting with friends!!!

Helloooo again, Elfin. So nice to hear from you. Your words still ring with such a deep clarity. Can’t say the same for OD, but I’ll give it the month. I will write how I’m doing. ((((hugs))))

@udder hi udder…did you stay around?

February 1, 2025

How nice to hear from you, and how your life has evolved!

I thought OD was just more dust in the wind…  until I found your notification in my spam.  I’m still alive, but at 72 life becomes a battle to stay healthy.  The rest of the world is doing worse than I am, though.  Much worse.  I am almost done with people.

I still live in the woods of Wisconsin.  For winters I visit friends on Kangaroo Island, Australia.  It is one of the last paradises in the world, especially for a biologist.  And what a cultural awakening.

I have two wonderful grandchildren from my daughter.  8 and 6.

My quest to figure out what’s going on has made great progress…  or is all that just some initial stage of senility??

So nice to catch up with you again.  I still don’t know if I’ll hang around.  ((((hugs))))

@udder I’m just using another free month – my email is:

emmm.grace@gmail.com

I’ll probably not post an entry before the month expires, but drop me a line if you can be bothered. I’m glad you’re around, thrilled you have grandchildren to delight you and wish you good health and happiness.

good to see you back here as well…..I can’t believe it is a year since your dear mother passed on….wow. Time flies.   I use this again but Prosebox is now my diary of preference as the format is easier to use. Also I am trying not to cross-post like many people do because it doesn’t seem fair on regular friends in each, but occasionally I will when time is short. Glad all is still going well for you.  Keep smiling, hugs p
