Pestilence and Famine couldn’t make it…..

"I’m Nervousness".

There’s an obscure Whose Line /Greg Proops as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse In Scenes From A Hat reference for you! I can’t remember what I’ve done with my car keys or if I bought milk, but I can quote entire Whose Line episodes from 20 years ago. Go me!

I AM Nervousness today, and I have no idea why. I keep thinking I have SO MUCH TO DO before the Big Trip…. but I really don’t have that much left to do. And what I do have left isn’t anything to freak out over. Figure out what clothes I’m taking. Buy memory cards for the camera. Clean the nasty house. The big stuff is done. I hope. But whatever, I’m nervous and I’ve also got such a massive case of ADDT that I canno….. OOOooOooo, shiny things!!!

That is not helping. Because I think of something I need to do, start to do it, think of something else, get distracted, realize there’s a third thing over there, OMG! and a fourth and look it’s six, seven and nine oooOOOoo, I skipped five and eight because a butterfly flew by!!!

Yeah. Kind of driving myself nuts. And it’s very very quiet at work and I can’t concentrate on what I’m doing (obviously) and happily nothing is all that urgent at the moment. I’m feeling too scatterbrained to focus on trip planning.

I’ll do some more currents. Because they are perfect for Short Attention Span Theatre.

Current Out Of Character Action:
I am doing two social things on Monday. Which is actually my birthday, and it’s a little odd I’m doing social things on my birthday that are nothing to do with my birthday… well, one of them is kind of to do with my birthday in a roundabout sense. I got my hair cut yesterday, and my hairstylist, who I’ve been going to for at least 13 years, asked me if I wanted to go to lunch with her on Monday. Which is, oddly, her birthday too, which is why it’s a round-about birthday lunch. She is also working on Monday and decided she was going to the Indian buffet for lunch. And asked did I want to go too. I’ve never been to the Indian buffet- it’s new and is reportedly very good. Indian is quite exotic for this town, and I keep forgetting we actually have an Indian restaurant. We’ve had an excellent Thai place for a couple of years though, so apparently we are officially becoming worldly.

Anyhow, I like my hairstylist a lot and will enjoy having lunch with her, but I am so totally antisocial that even a casual spur-of-the-moment lunch date makes me feel, ummmmm, all socially anxious. What a weirdo I am.

The other social happening is that Miss Artsy is coming over after work to sit in my livingroom and have a glass of wine and chat so that my cats will at least hear her voice and hopefully not be as completely freaked out by her coming over to check on them while we’re gone as they would be if they’d never heard her voice. Well, she’s come by a couple of times briefly so they’ve heard her but this will refresh their memories. I’ve already warned her that she will probably never see Eddie, who is even more socially anxious and neurotic than his mommy is. Cayce will probably come out, though.

Current Amusement:
My hair. Well, the inspiration for my current haircut. This is so nuts that I am hesitant to share. But it’s so funny that I have to. I keep wanting more layers in my hair, so it will do the shaggy messy thing a little better, but for some reason I haven’t really been getting the layers I’d like- probably because I keep taking F pictures that don’t have huge amounts of layers. F likes pictures, and does a great job with any picture you bring her, but if you bring a picture of one thing while having another thing in your head, it’s probably not going to end up like the thing in your head. So I keep not getting the thing in my head.

I mentioned in an earlier entry that Baker B and I have become addicted to The Mighty Boosh in recent months, and also to Luxury Comedy and just to Noel Fielding in general. Noel Fielding is quite the fashionista. You can probably see where this is going.

YES I took a picture of Noel Fielding to my hairstylist!!!! YES that IS something a 15 year old squeeing gothy fangirl would do. I KNOW, I KNOW.

To my credit it was not the usual sparkly glittery/gothy Noel Fielding picture I took. Mostly because I don’t have long enough hair.

No, no, I took one of the very few I’ve seen of him with short hair. And I did not go looking for a picture of Noel Fielding to take with me… no, I remembered having seen this picture and thinking I WANT THAT HAIRCUT. So I found it (amusingly by googling "noel fielding short hair"). And took it with me.

My hairstylist did not bat an eye at my bringing in a picture of a man. (Baker B said, "She probably thought he was a girl!") And gave me a very layery haircut.

So I’m very happy with my haircut. Even though it did not make me as pretty as Noel Fielding. Sigh.

I should probably make it stick out more. And put on some glitter.

Oh, look, I’ve run out of time! I’m going to have to continue doing partial, two or three at a time Currents — apparently that’s the only way I can manage an entry.

I love this entry.

Love the haircut and know the pre-trip ADD and jitters (I think Baker B is behind that – it’s for him and not you) will subside quickly. And you’re way prettier than Noel Fielding. 🙂 I LOL’d about your spontaneous social engagements because I’d be have the same post-agreeing freaking out if I’d done that. It’s Indian food, you can’t go wrong with that, so it’ll be good.

that is a wonderful haircut on you! I WANT YOUR HAIRDRESSER!!!

My sister is always telling people the only time she sees my Stella is when we Skpe and that is pretty much true. Great about the haircut. It is marvelous. And a shared birthday lunch at a new Indian restaurant sounds marvelous too. So exciting that it is almost time for your next big adventure…

Great style for you! Safe travels on your trip. RYN: I’m done cleaning them up, finally. Hopefully will can the juice today. 🙂

Good cut for you, very attractive. I envy the body and bounce in your hair. Getting ready for a trip, particularly one overseas, is the worst part of the process. Most of my cats disappear when there are visitors.

Yay! Photos of edna!!! Dunno who the other guy is. Like the hair! Happy Birthday! Hey, I went to the UK when I was the same age as you are going to be. I just get one big hoary list and cross things out as I go in an attempt to keep on track. Not surprised you are distractible. It’s pretty exciting.

Aaaaahhh I LOVE it! That is a great haircut!

Say, I KNEW we had something in common, in that we both… oh, wait, there’s that hummingbird out at the feeder, where’s my camera? *Attempt to refocus* (And don’t even THINK I’m kidding on this!) But allow me to say you’re haircut is ADORABLE, and you are MUCH cuter (at least in the feminine sense) than Noel. (Although I do see what he’s got going on…*ahem*) Also, you sound even more social than I am. How do you handle traveling, given your misgivings? (Or are you on the Grande Recluse Tour? ;^) My solution for nervousness is to breathe deeply and inhale injest some dark chocolate. Gives me energy or something… If I don’t make it back in time for Monday, have a gloriously happy and serene birthday!!

The hair cut looks really good. I like the high lights.

I love the haircut. Cant wait to hear about the trip. Have you gotten into the Downton Abbey series?

June 2, 2013

You are hawt!

Yeah, it totally works; the hair. And I love your glasses, too! Isn’t it funny how doing something “fun” can become stressful?!

She did a very good job there and it suits you! RYN: I’m really surprised at that – I thought that was one of the advantages of a Kindle – that you can search for something a whole lot easier than in a book. That mapped memory thing doesn’t appear to have reached my brain because I’m constantly losing stuff I’ve read in books that I want to go back to – I never seem to be able tofind it again! And yes I hadn’t thought about the lack of illustrations/photos – someone else mentioned that too.

Oh and happy belated birthday a day late! Did you enjoy your lunch?

June 5, 2013

and… thank you

Sunday night I was telling myself to write myself a note to wish you the best birthday yet and then somehow or other it got to be Thursday. Personally I think the Stone Angels or the Daleks are messing with time but that is no excuse. Hope you had a marvelous lunch and that the week has been full of good stuff.
