no surprise….

It’s Cayce! And please just ignore how the carpet needs vacuuming and how, yes, the bedrails ARE rusty. Just look at cute little Cayce! (Baker B got to name this one and decided she should be Cayce and her brother, if we end up taking him too, will be Edgar. As in Edgar Cayce, the famous psychic and channeler. I mean, duh – doesn’t everyone name their pets after psychics and channelers??)  We went and got her last night. So far, we’ve just got one. However, since Baker B looked in the pet shop window this morning and the still-unadopted and previously very quiet Edgar said, "MEOW!! MEOW!!! MEOW!! MEOW!!!!!!" as soon as he saw Baker B,  it may not be long till we go get him too. I just keep hoping someone else will take him first.

They are Humane Society kittens, and today I checked out the Humane Society’s website – they have ten zillion kittens, but Edgar and Cayce are on the site, along with a third, already-adopted sister. Here’s poor little abandoned lonely Edgar, who is person is REALLY pretty – this picture just doesn’t do him justice at all:

He’s all fluffy and pretty and doesn’t look so traumatized now, even in the pet store. And he’s a couple of weeks older now so is bigger.

Cayce still looks pretty much exactly like she does here.

ANYHOW, she’s SO cute and very friendly and sweet and loves being petted, and has purred non-stop. And she races all over the house and loves the stairs. Poor thing, she seems VERY happy not to be in a cage.

Stella is not as thrilled as we all are, and is spending her time growling and looking extremely annoyed. She doesn’t seem to be able to take her eyes off Cayce, though, so I think in a few days she’ll get over the snit and play with her. It took her several days to start playing with Simon and Maddy when they were kittens. It’s probably good we didn’t bombard her with two at once – now if we DO go get Edgar, she’ll have had a little time to get used to Cayce.

So, it’s an exciting time – there’s just nothing as fun as a new kitten!

And she’s even perfect for Halloween. I have to say, though, otherwise it doesn’t feel at all like Halloween. It’s a gorgeous 63 degrees outside, bright blue skies, still some pretty fall trees. I’ve seen Scooby Doo walking down the street, and Baker B saw Jesus waiting for the bus, but that’s been about it. And there’s a good chance Jesus wasn’t in costume. Halloween’s more fun when it’s not in the middle of the week, I guess.

Well, back to work – I just had to take a break to post the exciting news! And when IF we go get Edgar, I’ll be posting again –

Holy sweet bejesus! Cayce looks just like Spazzmo did as a kitty, and edgar looks like the anti-spazzmo that lived in the neighborhood for a while and then either disappeared or merged with Spazz, in either case foul play is suspected.

Awwwwwww! Cayce is adorable. I had a Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) once, who I named Cayce, after Edgar Cayce – COOL!

ryn: i think sometimes people realize the error of their ways, like maybe your grandpa, and being nice and loving to their grandkids is a way of making up for past mistakes. maybe? maybe some people are a certain way before they have really matured. sometimes we emulate what is known until we realize it is not the right way to be. then again, some people never change and only get worse as they getolder. it happens…lol! Jasspirit had a dog she named Cayce, from the famed Edgar. very cute kitty! aw, go get Edgar.

Oh how cute! The pics are very nice and I think you chose a fabulous pair of names! Have a great weekend,

I knew I’d heard those names before & just couldn’t think where until you put them together – he wrote a book called ‘The Sleeping Prophet’ didn’t he? These wee pops are just adorable – I’m catching up but I get the feeling I’ve already seen a pic of Edgar so guess I must have missed this entry somehow. Cayce looks just like Jamie when he was that size!
