edgar!!!!!

I’m sure this is no surprise either – we went and got Edgar after work yesterday. Baker B had gone by the pet store at lunch and nobody had adopted him yet, and even worse he had a new cagemate that he wasn’t getting along with. The pet store people said the new kitten was very wild and Edgar was really unhappy. Edgar licked Baker B’s fingers and meowed at him some more, and that was it. We went and got him.

Cayce and Edgar have been SO cute – they’re hardly ever apart. They race around playing, then they curl up and go to sleep together. I’m really glad we ended up with both of them – obviously it was fate. I still can’t believe they were in the pet store two weeks and nobody adopted them – they are unbearably cute kittens, and will be very pretty cats when they’re grown. I think they’re part Persian – Edgar has long hair and is very fluffy, and although Cayce has shorter hair, she’s got a kind of Persian look to her face – it’s a teeny bit flatter than the usual cat. In a cute way, of course. He’s quite a bit bigger than she is, but when they wrestle she seems to be the fiercer one.

Edgar just about made me lose this by walking across the laptop. He is very interested in the keyboard, and also in the curser. He may be a genius.

Stella is taking this invasion pretty well. She was hissing and growling at Cayce AND us for the first couple of days, but by the time we brought Edgar home she was mostly just watching with great interest and only hissing when approached too closely by noisy kittens. She’s also venturing down off the top of the writing desk. Right now she’s sprawled out on the diningroom table. The one that belonged to my grandparents, who are no doubt spinning around in their graves like rotisserie chickens at the very idea of a cat in the house, let alone on their diningroom table.

She’s thinking, "Wait…. were there two of those things yesterday??!!??"

We keep reassuring her that she’s still the number one cat and that we got them for her. They’re her pets. And yes, that’s her food up there. No, no, she’s not spoiled at all!

It’s really hard to get good pictures of kittens. They just don’t want to be still long enough. And I am SO cleaning this house tomorrow. It’s even harder to get good pictures while trying to avoid clutter and filthy carpets.

oh! are they cute! oh! such fun! kittens in the house!

I Love Cayce’s eyes and Edgar’s little black spot on his nose, and both of their whiskers!! I love kittens. And see how good they have been for you already? You are cleaning house!! Please-those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. Love the new babies, but of course Stella is still numero uno.

Oh I am so glad! In a weird way it helps me accept my guilt over not bringing (my) Stella’s brother home. We are so lucky you are sharing them. ryn: When I was at The Tiger Lillies concert I was thinking of you and Baker B, telling myself, they probably have known about these guys for years and I am so out of the loop. They are amazing in concert. I was surprised at how much of theirstuff is available on iTunes. If you feel like splurging on a song, “The Crack of Doom” was Mrs. Island’s favorite.

Edgar has an elegant Phantom of the Opera look about him. You’re so fortunate to not have the allergic to cat genes. Mine and Cousin MJ’s must come from the other side of the family.

Beauties!!! Stella looks very alike the cat who seems to be lost and lives in our backyard since a couple months. I have two sweet adult cats. I love them. Greetings,

I’m glad! They are so darling! Stella made me laugh, and I remember our (gone now) cat when we brought home the new one for her! She had the exact same look on her face and did about the same things!

They are adorable. I would love to get a cat. I want to get one when Ben is older. Everyone else is voting for a dog.

Ah but now you’ve got a great excuse for clutter & filthy carpets – just blame it all on the new arrivals! Stella looks mightily pissed off in that first photo & the second is priceless. It’s like “My God I turn my back for 2 seconds …….” It breaks my heart to think of those 2 being in that pet shop for 2 weeks – thank you for taking them out of there & keeping them together!
