apparently I am indeed getting enough oxygen

However, I have a sinus infection and …. heartburn. How weird. I find both pretty odd. I would think a sinus infection would be more obvious – pain, sneezing, headaches, fever, whatever — but apparently not. I have been insanely tired. Perhaps that is why. And I find it equally odd that heartburn would make my throat feel like it’s closing up, but that’s a sign. Yikes. Can’t imagine where I’d get a thing like that. No stress at MY job. I also don’t eat chocolate, don’t consume alcohol, don’t eat and then lie on the couch reading, and certainly don’t drink a minimum of fifty eight cups of coffee each day.

Oh, and I’m dehydrated. My tongue stuck to the depressor. That’s a sign. But I’m getting plenty of oxygen – she checked. She measured it by clipping a thing to my finger. I am in the 98th percentile of oxygen consumers. Or something. I guess my lungs are 98 percent efficient.

I’m allergic to all the good drugs, starting with penicillin, so what she gave me will probably take awhile to start working. I was very very tempted to call in sick today, but since we have a huge student teaching meeting tomorrow that I don’t think we’re nearly ready for and an all-day supervisor meeting Friday AND New Boss had an all-day meeting today that I thought we had to be involved in but we got out of — and I don’t want New Person J to quit— I braved it and came in. Since I haven’t felt sick at all, I guess that’s not being very brave. Naturally, since I found out I AM sick, I’ve felt much worse. But at least it’s nothing serious. It’s curable.

And in other happy news, it’s a balmy 36 degrees right now. The wind was howling earlier, making it feel more like five below 0. Well, the wind has been howling for about two weeks now. I’m very very very tired of hearing wind howl. And even more tired of hiking between the parkinglot and my building in the howling icy wind. I’m ready for spring.

Oh, look – time to go! I think one of my symptoms is the inability to string together a coherent though. And sitting staring at the computer waiting for it to tell me what to write. The constant noise in here isn’t helping. The people in the copier room who are talking at the top of their lungs is NOT HELPING. There’s one professor in particular who SPEAKS WITH THE LOUDEST VOICE EVER ALL THE TIME and is always going RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT as she talks. She’s in there right now talking to someone else. Kind of getting on my nerves. Time to go.

Wow, it’s weird you should write about sinus problems with heartburn, because that is exactly what I have been experiencing for the past few days! How odd!

The inability to string together a coherent thought. I’ve got that! I’ve never had heartburn or a sinus infection but my sister gets them all the time. Yay that they are curable. Still extra rest in a quiet warm locale with cats is advised.

Sinus infections are the worst! They make you feel like you are walking around with a brick between your two eyes. I am terribly allergic to pencillin. They put me on cylines or sulfur drugs. Both are very hard on your stomach. I rarely take antibiotics but an infection cannot be beat any other way.

oh, may this cold spell soon be over! and what global warming?? is it location specific or what???

Your tongue stuck to the depressor makes for an interesting mental picture. RYN: You are the only one who truly “gets” me here at OD. Thank you *dabs tears away* How do I know? Two reasons today – you think my line about poor Chet having R for a dad was good, and you, like me, think Chet is the greatest name ever for a hamster. I so appreciate having a kindred spirit!

My husband gets sinus infections from time to time. He and I both get heartburn too. Sorry to hear that you have both. The only other words I hate to hear someone saying on the phone is uh huh, uh huh, uh huh, uh huh. That drives me nuts! Just wait until the day when the computer(which I think they already have some like these) is used by voice command only. No typing required, justtell it what to do and it will do it. Even look up stuff for you on the Internet. :))

Well, no wonder! I hate sinus infections and heartburn, both. I’m glad to hear you are getting enough oxygen however. That’s a good thing. Apparently you need to drink a little more water!! Hope the medicine kicks in quicker then you think and you start feeling better soon. I’m with you, I cannot wait for spring. I am so over winter right now.

RYN: Thanks for the sweet note. I’ve not read any Pearson – which book do you recommend for my initial read?

Glad it’s minor and manageable. Get well!

I hope you are feeling better by now. I also am ready for Spring! Snow or ice every week here.
