a fast pictorial entry from paradise
Fast because, as usual, I’m up waaaaaay too late. We need to get a fairly early start tomorrow so we can go walk around Magnolia Cemetery before it gets too hot. Well, it’s never too hot for me, but early is better there. Since I’ve sprung for internet access, though, I want to get my money’s worth. And really, I already have, because I’ve got my pictures loaded on Flickr. That alone is worth it.
And it’s going to be mostly pictorial because I’m delirious with exhaustion so won’t make any sense if I try to use words. Even better, I can’t see a darned thing – I broke the earpiece on my glasses the day before we left, which meant I didn’t have time to get them fixed. And being bifocals, when they don’t sit perfectly straight on my nose it makes my vision amazingly wonky. And of course they aren’t at all straight, because I have the earpiece taped on with black electrical tape. Quite the fashion statement. I guess I should have just left my contacts in.
SO – the trip is great, we’re having lots of fun, no rain so far, and I’ve avoided all deep pools of water. There are quite a few of those at high tide, weirdly. Car is fine, and my previously mentioned bashed-by-a-book ankle is fine too. It was fine by the next day, although I had a great big bruise.
And night pictures! This may be blurry – seriously, I can not tell.
And we saw fireworks tonight – although we missed the really good ones because they didn’t start till 10 and we got tired of sitting around waiting on them. We were at the park on the bay with a million other people, and you could see all kinds of fireworks farther off. So that was okay. We left and walked around town, so of course started hearing them and seeing the sky light up as soon as we were out of sight of the actual fireworks.
I do enjoy he “thud” of mortars that comes two or three secomd after you see firework displays in the air (from a distance).

ryn: The custom house was a prelude to this version of The Scarlet Letter that I listened to. Not sure if it was in my book … but anyway, yes. Very clever. I plan to find more stuff by him in the future.

Glad you’re staying dry. Great pics. One of Berlin’s has me wondering – men’s and ladies what? Why is men’s possessive and ladies is not? Hmmm.

Night shots! You rock. All good. I do particularly like the porch glimpsed through the window one and the second one, of course. Carry on having a good time!

I wear glasses all the time except when I swim. I know, I know, contacts when you swim is bad. I just like to see my children before they drown. My glasses have never been the same since Ben got hold of them. You made me laugh with the tape thing. I loved all of the pictures.
