Unexpected Vacation

Since the beginning of December, I have been sending out resumes.  I can only work at my current student assistant job until March, at which I will be unemployed for the first time in 5+ years.

I’ve always had a very definite objective: Get to Kansas to be with Marci.

To that end, I formulated this plan: 1) Search exclusively in Wichita.  2) Plan a vacation for mid-February, at which point I’ll be 25 and it’ll be 1,000 percent easier to rent a car for the purposes of job hunting.  3) If the hunt is unsuccessful after that, move the search to Sacramento with the main goal being avoiding unemployment.

Well, Tuesday I got a call from a state agency in Kansas requesting an interview on the 6th.  My vacation wasn’t planned for another few weeks, but I told the lady I’d MAKE myself available.  So I’m off to Kansas this Saturday for a week and some change.  I won’t be renting the car, seeing as I’m still 24, but it’s all good–Marci’s sister in law has generously agreed to cart me around, should I need it while Marci is working.

All of this meant that I got to surprise Marci with an early visit, which meant she had to scramble to request a couple of days off.  All is well though, and she and I are both starting to get that familiar feeling inside that comes with knowing we’ll be together soon.  We’ve got an invitation to a party, and some plans to drink some beers with friends on a couple nights….Plus–THE SUPER BOWL!

Should be fun!

Wish me luck on the interview!

Until next time…

Good luck! And I had no idea you couldn’t leave a note on my diary! Do you have any idea how I came across your diary? I still haven’t figured that out.
