The Vacation and Raigambre
I’ve been meaning to update for about a week, but as you know…I can be lazy.
I just got back from another trip to Kansas to see Marci. As always, I had a blast. =)
We spent most of our time inside, in the AC. We take pride in being extremely lazy when we’re together. We don’t get to spend a lot of time together, so just BEING together is a big thing for us. We kept our superhero movie tradition going, adding X2 and the Hulk to the list. We had dinner at a new restaurant, and even went to the gym a couple of times.
We spent two days swimming at her friend’s house, one day in Oklahoma City at Whitewater Bay, and a couple of days playing pool with her brother and his wife.
We did a lot, and we didn’t do much at all. It was the perfect vacation. Every time I’m with her, I feel like my relationship is strengthened even more. After spending almost three weeks with her, it really began to feel like home.
That’s why it sucked to have to leave.
As always, it was emotional…but I think we’ve got the formula down for keeping the tears to a minimum. We don’t talk about having to leave until we actually have to leave. Then, we keep the goodbyes short and never look back once we let go of each other.
The upside is, with graduation approaching, I won’t have to say goodbye many more times.
Friday night, we went to see my friend Stephen’s band play. They’re a Cuban funk band called Raigambre…If you’re in the Sacramento area, check them out at raigambre.com….You won’t regret it.
The club was small and dark, but comfortable. We got there early and sat in the back with the guys from the band, who are cooler each and every time I talk to them. They went on, and kicked ass as usual.
As I watched them set up, I realized how much I enjoyed THAT part of a band’s performance….the way they warm up…the way they communicate back and forth…the way they make everything sound just right before wowing an audience…for someone who grew up around music, (Latin music in particular), it’s always been amazing to me how talented some musicians are. Between the great music and the hottest bartender I have ever seen, I was having a great time.
After the show, we had more drinks with the band (I wanted to buy more from the hot bartender) and called it a night.
The rest of the weekend was pretty relaxed….I’m not looking forward to work tomorrow, but I never am….
Wow….I have really been rambling….I’m going to quit while I’m ahead.
Until next time…
with chad and i, the normal routine is that the one who’s not leaving steals the person’s keys/cell phone/clothes for a half hour or so. because, yes, we are 5 years old.:o)have a great day.<3
