My Jelly-Bean…
Hey All,
I had my precious baby boy on Sunday, June 30th, 2013. At 1:30 am my water broke, and then he was born at 5:00 am — 24 days early. He was considered "premature" but was a hefty 7 lbs 11 oz! I was 36 weeks and 4 days along: only 3 days shy of "full term." I ended up having PIH (Pregnancy Induced Hypertension), Pre-Eclamptic Toximia, and I could have had a seizure, or stroke, or both. Basically I almost died while giving birth, and even while on a Magnesium Sulphate drip my blood pressure reached roughly 200/110. If my son hadn’t come out when he did then I would have had an emergency C-section. The only thing I had for the pain during labour was a morphine shot, which ended up being administered only 15 minutes prior to my son being born! My placenta seemed to take forever to come out. Also after his birth the doctor had to "go in" and remove a bunch of clots. I have been told now that I can NEVER have ANY MORE KIDS. Apparently there was too much "trauma" done ‘down there’… the doctor even told my husband that HE has to have a vasectomy, as I cannot even get a tubal ligation. I was watched one-on-one by a nurse for the first 24 hours following his birth. I wasn’t allowed up out of my bed, the magnesium sulphate drip had to be continued, and I had a catheter. I was finally discharged on Thursday, July 4th, but my son was still in the NICU since he had been a preemie and he had trouble breathing at first. Also since I had the magnesium sulphate drip he was a little lethargic, and I was on Effexor for my depression, from which he had to "detox." When he was a couple of days old he became jaundiced and needed phototherapy, and the poor little dear looked like he was at a little tanning salon. I was lucky that they had a "sleep room" for mothers of NICU babies, which I was able to use until he was finally discharged on Monday, July 8th, 2013. I am very grateful to all the doctors and nurses that took care of us so we could finally come home as healthy individuals.
PICTURES COMING SOON.
