Irony (NoJoMo 2012 Day 9)
1. What is the most ironic thing that has ever happened to you?
The most ironic thing that has ever happened to me would have to be when my ex asked me "Am I just a fling, or are you in this for the long haul?" I hesitated. I hesitated because I didn’t want to hurt his feelings, but I should have just blurted out what first came to my mind: you are just a fling. He ended up noticing my hesitation, and, because he didn’t know me very well, must have mistook it for wanting to say "the long haul" but not wanting to admit it – so he said "’Cause I’m in it for the long haul," because I think he thought that’s what I wanted to hear or say. I think he was talking out of his ass at that point, and I think we both might have been better off if I had been less concerned about hurting his feelings and just blurted out my gut response.
2. Who is or has been the most influential person in your life and why?
The most influential people in my life:
- My Mom – duh, she’s my mom, of course she’s going to have an influence on my life!
- My Dad – duh, he’s my dad, so of course he’s going to have an influence on my life, too!
- My Ex – I learned a lot about what I did not want in a relationship, and having a child with him certainly changed my life course.
- My Husband – is currently the most influential person in my life right now because I respect him, and we do live together, so of course he’s going to have an influence on my life and the way I live.
