I Got It!!!

Hey All,

Thank you for all your positive thoughts and well-wishes because, as my title of this entry indicates, I got the job!!!

You know, the job I talked about yesterday, the one similar to my last place of employment where I stayed almost 8 years? Yeah, that one. The one in the city I fell in love with in June, and all those bizarro coincidences. Well, I start on Monday, August 13th, 2012. Ha. Thirteen… it would be thirteen… that’s Pookie’s lucky number anyway. I hope these are all fortunate signs.

I have 6 weeks of [paid] training, the first 14 days of which are Monday to Friday from 3:30pm to 12am [midnight]. It’s a 24/7 call center, but the line of business where I’ll be only gets scheduled from 7am to 4am [Monday to Sunday]. There is a shift bidding system, but it’s not solely seniority based, it’s heavily performance based, which I think is awesome because at my last job I always did well on calls when they were assessing fairly. I figure I’ll be getting decent shifts in no time, if this holds true. I’m also excited that it is casual dress at all times, *and* we get our own workstation [maybe only shared with one or two others], *and* our own lockers, which my last employer failed to provide. I mean, really, where else are we supposed to keep our valuables, except within our sight at our workstation on the call center floor, if you don’t provide a secure location for us to keep them off the floor? There’s also something about vacation time, which I may need to ask about or look into further for myself. We can’t take any vacation time that we haven’t already earned or accrued, *but* we are allowed to take single days here and there and don’t have to take them in one week chunks. I’ll have to find out about scheduling vacation days for holidays and how that whole issue works, because I will definitely be booking Christmas Day off each year as soon as possible!

I guess I’ll be finding out a whole lot more on Monday, too. I probably can’t talk about any more of it though, since company privacy policies and all.

I have to call EI tomorrow and let them know I got a job. Good timing too, since my EI was going to expire on August 14th.
