Friend Ships

One day a stranger opened up his life to me;
He asked me to step in.
I have, and since then
I’ve opened up my life to him.

It’s funny how one person can change another’s life,
To either build it up or tear it down.
All it takes is an invitation on one person’s part,
Acceptance from the other, now you have a start
On some relationship or other.
A change: for good or bad?
You will never know ’till you ride it out
And see where it will take you.

Some rides start off just fine, smooth sailing and blue skies ahead,
Then later hit rough waters, that thunderstorm of dread.
Some ‘ships pull through, while others, worse for wear,
Get tipped over in that sea of unfair;
But, you see, it’s all part of life,
It’s what we’re meant to do.
We step into each other’s lives
Open up and start to bloom,
And we hope for one sweet moment,
It’s our ‘ship that will pull through.

:o) – I’ve realized that I’m a tugboat and I’m happy about it. I’ll break my back to pull a relationship through if it’s someone I genuinely care about.
