Caged
I feel like a wild animal trapped inside too small a cage.
Every bone in my body,
Every fiber of my being
Aches to be free.
But I cannot escape.
The bars are too strong,
And the lock’s too tight.
I am trapped.
Until such a time comes when someone brave enough,
someone strong enough,
And someone stupid enough sets me free.
I will roam once more,
And ever will I roam
Until the end of time,
When all the planets in their unceasing orbits discontinue to spin,
And when all the stars with their everlasting flames cease to shine.
I am as old as the universe,
Yet I live on.
Through stories, legends and beliefs I do gain my strength.
I know not from whence I came,
Nor do I know what future follows,
But I know I will live on.
My name on the lips of every man there ever lived.
The tears of all those who have wept will be gathered into a single drop.
All the sorrows of mankind will be eased.
But not until I am defeated,
Not until One so great and so powerful thrusts His force upon me.
Only then will I die,
Only then will I cease to exist.
Only then will there be everlasting peace.
