you win some, you lose some

I never realized how much time I spent on this site while working at Bravo until I stopped coming here when I started the new gig.  Now, I’ve barely noted anyone (or even read for that matter).  I can’t even pretend to say I’m reading but not noting.  I’ve been a ghost around here.

Hopefully I’ll be able to play some catch up this weekend though.  Especially since I’ll have plenty of free time considernig the damn puppy store sold our dog to someone else.

Saturday, we went in and fell in love with him.  Talked to Shannon (who works there) about him for awhile.

Sunday, I called and asked her some questions.

Monday, Bill’s mom came over for dinner (it was her birthday).

Tuesday, we paid a shiva call to a friend who’s grandfather passed away.

Wednesday, we went to poker (as per usual).

Thursday, we went back to the puppy store to see our little guy.

Tuesday night, someone else had bought him.

And the worst part was, Shannon wasn’t even sorry about it.  She pretty much had the attitude of "you snooze, you lose."  I expected more from her considering we’ve been in there countless times over the past year. 

Now, I would never expect her to talk another customer out of a dog that we had NOT paid a deposit on.  But she at least could have been a little more sympathetic.

Bill was absolutely crushed.  I felt so terrible.  The ironic part is I’m the one who’s been pushing hard for the dog and he’s the one who’s been very skeptical/worried about the responsibility.  But when we learned that he was gone…I think he realized exactly how much he really did want a dog (and that dog specifically).  I’m much more of the "it wasn’t meant to be" mentality.

We will find another dog who is meant to be part of our little family.
