i want to celebrate and live my life
I may have pulled out my back like an old lady moving the futon with Bill, but WE HAVE A CHRISTMAS TREE NOW!
I’m current laid up on the futon (where our couch will sit next Saturday!) ODing on ibuprofen and watching football. The plan was to bring down all of the Christmas decorations today, but that went out the window along with my back.
We took a couple of towels back to Bed Bath and Beyond today and retroactively used a handful of 20% off coupons on things we’ve bought over the past few months.
Total refunded to our card: $85.73. Total spent on Christmas tree, decorated door wreath, tree stand, and light-up outdoor penguin: $98.52. Net total out-of-pocket cost today: $12.79.
However, last night we made an impromptu stop in Atlantic City on our way back from Richmond. Total cost of hotel room + poker room losses: $449.56. Ouch.
In retrospect, this was not such a smart decision. (Like fools, we figured we’d go spend $150 on a hotel room and make $300 in the poker room). But we had fun and we still have our love even if we lost our money.
Had a really nice Thanksgiving and good trip to Richmond. Of course, I didn’t take nearly as many pictures as I planned. That’s always the case, especially on holidays.
My family just doesn’t take pictures when we get together. I tried forcing a handful, but I felt weird making people pose. It just doesn’t come naturally to us, and I felt like I was annoying people (even though no one gave me a bad reaction). It’s all in my head.
I am definitely making it my new year’s resolution to take more pictures. I’m planning to put together a photo album for Bill and me with pictures from 2010 and turn that into a tradition every year. Hopefully, with that project in mind, I’ll take many more pictures in 2011.

Everyone seems to have got their trees this weekend! I need to wait two more weeks I think until I get my living room painted so I can then decorate in here!

I can count on one hand the number of photos I have of my parents in the last twenty years. And forget all of us together. I love your Christmas tree! Can’t wait to see the decorated version.
