i could not ask for more

OK, it’s time for something that’s not wedding related.

And that’s baseball.

And I need a better camera. These pictures are pretty icky looking.  But we went to the Mets/Giants game last night courtesy of Jacob’s dad who had two tickets he couldn’t use.  We sat up in a really nice restaurant in left field eating filet mignon and freezing our tails off.

And also this video just made me cry.  What a creative, wonderful idea.  I really hope I remember it and take the time to do it when I have a kid.

I do have one wedding question though. Have any of you attended a heavy hor dourves reception?  If we choose Main Street, and I think we will, we’ll likely have too many people for a sit down meal. Neither of us have ever done this before and aren’t really sure how it works or what it’s like. Thoughts?

I like the idea of a reception without a sit-down meal, and lots of hors d’ourves. It’s intimate, people can mingle while they eat, and it’s probably cheaper. Plus, finger foods are so cute. You could have some food on tables and some passed by waiters, and you can also “miniaturize” (is that a word..?) popular meals too you know? I think it’s a great idea.

RE: I have days when I am NOT productive, trust me ha. I’m paranoid that if I’m not applying for jobs, my unemployment will be jeopardized somehow! Part of me wants to just try and “enjoy” this time – if that’s possible – while I’m not working and give myself a break, but I don’t know. I hope something comes along soon though.

lee genevieve won’t start writing there until june when my od plus on this diary expires. <3

We only served appetizers at our reception, along with the cake, of course. It was a huge hit!

When my boss was sworn in, we had a heavy hors d’ourves reception. It went very well. I agree with the first noter — it’s intimate and cheaper. One thing we had that I have to share because it’s awesome — a grits bar. The restaurant does their own signature cheese grits, so they had a ton of those ready, and then they had a table filled with all kinds of stuff to top the grits — spinach, tomatoes, more cheese, bacon, etc. It was fantastic! (Alternately, mashed potatoes could be used instead of grits!)

Oh, and that video is PRECIOUS. What an awesome idea!

I haven’t attended a wedding like that, but I’ve been to parties where it was all “finger foods” and they were fun. I mean, there are some good appetizers out there, and it’s a shame that you only ever get to eat them in small portions because you’re saving room for the big meal. I think an all-hors-d’oeuvres reception sounds brilliant. 🙂

My college roommate Sara got married on a Friday night and did hors d’ourves only. Well, they had table with some mini sandwiches and flat bread pizza also.. which, on paper seems kind of tacky, but it was really, really good. My only complaint is that neither Ryan nor I really knew what to expect going into it, so we hadn’t eaten. The invitations weren’t clear that there wasn’t going to be a full meal. Although, now that I’m really thinking about it, we ate enough food for it to have been a real meal.

And, really, who ever loves the food at receptions anyway? Usually it’s not good unless you go all out. So if you can pick a few really, really good hors d’ourves, I think you’ll be more than set. I know that when/if I get married, the only thing anyone in my family will care about is the booze. LOL.

okay, so this is totally random, but ive decided that I’m not going to our 10 year reunion unless one of these things occurs: 1- I become a hot skinny bitch 2- I become a filthy rich bitch 3-if I am not skinny and not rich, then I must be cute pregnant at least to hide the fluff. what do you think?

oh ps, I think it depends on the time of day you have the wedding- if its 6pm people might expect food, but say, a 2pm wedding doesn’t scream MEAL, you know? But I think hordorves are fine, it gets hella expensive feeding a ton of people.

oh ps again- depending on when you have the wedding and all that jazz, I might leave the bambino home with AJ instead of my mom, bc she already watches my kid so much. lol if I do, can I bring ekin as my plus one so I still have help with miss Chloe? I’ll tell her not to eat a lot of food. haha

RE: Sure, I can do that, thank you for thinking of me. I appreciate it 🙂 At the very least, maybe I can pass along some good advice to Bill and make him sound brilliant at work haha!

It was like 10pm on the 7th day but I sent the email to amazon anyway and I had the money in my account this morning! How cool is that? I hadn’t read the book, not sure if you can return read books, but its good to know you can return if you change your mind. PS READ THE SOOKIE STACKHOUSE SERIES OMG.
