Erasing My Heart

I finally burned your last pictures and tribute videos to a cd tonight. Cried like a baby, as I do now, typing this. It’s been three months and at times, hurts just like it were yesterday. I’ve been putting off doing the cd. I still have your last photos on my camera card. I’ve got to erase them eventually. But it feels like I’ll be erasing part of my heart, too. Words can’t express the pain of this loss.I’ll love you forever and a day, sweet dog. I hope you have some special Rainbow Bridge angels looking after you until I can once again, be by your side.
Love,
Mama

Your entry caught my eye because I have a dog named Duke also. I am so very sorry to hear of your friends passing. It is without a doubt, the hardest part of owning a pet. Surely he is running through green fields and having a ball…all the while waiting for you.

don’t erase the photos of him til you’re good and ready!! there’s no real need to, is there? it’ll take a while til you’re not grieving so hard. be patient with yourself. take care,

I agree with Gray Tabby….wait til you’re good & ready before you erase the photo’s. Of course, you’ll have them on CD. Duke is romping & waiting for you Thanks for your note. I am trying to enjoy my babies now–knowing time is precious. My yellow lab, Buddy, reminds me a bunch of Duke. He’s got that same look in his eye. He’s so very special to me. All of my dogs are, but especially ole Buddy.

Don’t erase those photos. You’ll want them when the pain begins to subside – because it will, I promise. It never goes completely away, but it will get better. Dukester is surrounded by angels, because he’s an angel himself. My two Dukes are with him, too; and they’re the Duke Trio, singing in Dog.

Am I reading this right? You destroyed all your pics of Duke? I can’t read all the words…. This coming Sunday it will be 6 months that we’ve been without Loretta. A recent photo is still propped up at the back of a cabinet in the kitchen where I do all my food prep, and her collar and leash are still hanging in the kitchen. I’ll move them upstairs one of these days……
