Lyrics for Kiwi

Because she requested, I’m posting the lyrics to the song I wrote that I didn’t end up performing.

I remember when I could feel black and white.

I remember when I could sleep through the night.

And I remember when a look in the eye or a touch from the hand would mean something to me.

Chorus: Now all I can do is write words on a page about the giref and the loss

And I feel so lame for even playing this game

How naive of me

To think there wouldn’t even be

A cost

I remember when I knew who I wanted to be.

I remember when I thought that was enough for me.

But now I can’t remember when everything changed and there was no one to blame, they didn’t have eyes to see.

Chorus

Bridge: They say, they just say, "oh, just follow your heart and you can ride out any storm."

But they don’t tell you that you’ll never get back the piece of you that was torn. No, they don’t tell you that you’ll never get back the piece of you that was torn.

Chorus.

So there it is. I guess it’s called "I Remember" though that’s not a very creative title. This is the second song I’ve written by myself, a cappella, and in my car, lol. I drive a lot and I made up this song with the melody and lyrics simultaniously as I was going home one day. Once I get the verse I sing it back, over and over to myself to make sure I don’t forget it before I move on to the chorus or another verse. This one actually came pretty easily, I only tweaked a few things after it was finished. It’s a very enjoyable process if the tune and words flow easily.

Thanks for posting them! Now I’m curious about the melody. 🙂 When I read the lyrics I instantly had a kind of melody playing in my head. its probably WAY off. 🙂 why didn’t you sing?
