Geekery

I managed to twist my back within a half hour of waking up this past Saturday so I’ve been mostly confined to my desk at work and my recliner at home all week. It’s a shame too, the weather has been perfect all week. Low 70sF and mostly sunny. I’m slightly ashamed to say that I twisted my back while trying to bend and unplug my laptop charger from the power strip so technically one could say that I hurt my back while checking e-mail…

I tried to be productive with my time while resting my back, I finished a piece of artwork for a set of decals for scale model cars. As most of my readers know I love researching and building scale models of vintage historic race cars. Most of those cars no longer exist and the realities of racing in those days caused them to appear slightly different at each race so the accurate documentation and replication of those cars can be pretty difficult. I see myself as preserving history through building accurate scale models of these vehicles that no longer exist, I was lucky enough to be able to see many of them actually race but for most people the only way they will ever be able to experience these historic vehicles is through seeing a scale model of it. These decals will accurately replicate several of the 1959, 1960, and 1961 cars driven by Rex White, the 1960 NASCAR National Champion. The artwork will go to the screen printer this week, I hope to have the actual decals by sometime in late January.

RYN: NJ’s restrictions are insane. But no, his dad and his brother, I believe, lived in Hoboken, NJ, but he and his mom lived in Connecticut. I could be wrong, at this point, with the way the media is reporting it, it doesn’t appear anyone knows a thing about what happened. They’ll say whatever brings the best ratings.

RYN: One of the things they always said in the police academy is that if someone REALLY wants to kill you, he’ll most likely do it. And if he’s willing to sacrifice his life to kill you, you’re as good as dead. What concerns me too is that many seemingly sensible people appear to be gun nuts, as well.

What do you think they’re going to do on guns? Since we went through that period of 10 round clips, I’d sure hate to see ammo priced at $25.00/round or something else that would keep Joe Average from having a few guns.

RYN: My actual inlaws were, and are, fine. It’s the idiots her brothers married and the families they produced!

RYN: Close, but maybe not a winner. Try six kids, plus a new one yesterday via the 16 year old & his girlfriend, plus a SIL who looks and acts like Roseanne Barr – but is much louder and has less personality and intelligence. 🙂 Undoubtably my punishment for all the bad things I’ve done in life.

We can hurt ourselves all kinds of weird ways when we get older. I’ve done it plenty of times! Hope you are feeling better. Let me know if I’ve missed any big moments in your life; I’ve not written or read in so long.

ryn: That makes sense. It was weird because I’d never seen it on an application before, but a job working with kids is different from a job working with mops or fried food.

Hope all is better. I do love seeing the pictures of those models. Well take care. Love,

ryn: You’re right. 😀 It would’ve been amusing.

RYN: You get to see some trees on the cross country route to Waco……. Not much to see at all on the I-30 to I-35 choice…… And I-30 is again becoming one of the roughest interstates around….. I-76 west of Philadelphia not withstanding…….
