Someone I ended up friends with on Facebook somehow (and I have no idea how) posted a status requesting anyone who believed in magic or considered themselves a Wiccan etc to remove themselves. She then went on to post Bible verses about how witches should be killed. My response:

Wow… Who did Jesus hang out with again? Oh….that’s right….the outcasts of society, the people that “godly” people wouldn’t associate with. Before you get to the point that you kick gay people off of your friends list too, I’m gone. “I like your Christ. I don’t like your Christians. They’re nothing like your Christ” ghandi.

Why don’t you call for the inquisition to come back. You can get rid of all the witches, homosexuals and Jews at the same time. I’m an atheist and I would bet any amount of money that I know your “holy book” full of murder, vengeance and bloodshed more than you do. I pity your ignorance and blatant hypocrisy.

Additionally, do you realize that christianity blatantly stole, renamed and canonized pagan traditions from the people around them? Christmas, Easter, all saints day etc all came from pagan traditions. There is absolutely nothing original about christianity. In fact, were it not for the pagans of the day, christianity would not exist for you to believe in it.

You know nothing of history, nothing of religious history, the foundations of the Bible or the own core tenants of your own belief system. Christians are not supposed to only associate with other believers. They are supposed to love their neighbors and turn the other cheek while spreading the gospel to the whole world. You’re proposing a return to the principles abused by the church for centuries that demand that all others believe as you do or they should be put to death.

Your idiotic rhetoric echos the voices of the martyrs killed by a loving church. Thousands upon thousands of innocent men, women and children put to death by a religion whose instigator mandated only love, tolerance and genuine compassion. Jesus its nothing like you. You’re a hypocrite, a coward and a dogmatic idiot. Jesus said that not everyone claiming to believe in him is truly saved….that you will know his true children by their fruit and their love. Where its yours? Its your faith so tenuous that one person disagreeing with you can topple it? What are you so afraid of? Maybe you should take a good, hard look at the plank in your own eye before you look for the speck in someone else’s.

And fuck you.

Wow I hate people who give Christians a bad rep. No wonder so many people shy away from Christ and hate Christians! Can’t say that I blame them anymore.

That is how almost all the people I know that are Christians act. It’s unfortunate, but it’s their bad.

Saw you as Readers’ Choice. Unfortunately, a lot of Christians feel like they are “the chosen few”, and don’t or won’t acknowledge that there are other religions in the world. My best friend since age 6 is a hard-shell Southern Baptist–she reared her children and grandchildren that way, and she refuses to acknowledge that people who are Muslim, Hindu, Japanese, etc., worship a Higher Power that might not be the God she worships. To her, the only “higher power” is her God, and everyone on earth be damned–to her. Very well written, and I so agree!!

While I agree that she was terribly wrong, and I love that quote, I think it should be pointed out Jesus “hung out” with people who had repented and committed to change their lives. Such people with “pasts” still would have been outcasts to the self-righteous, but unless your fb friend asked “ex-witches” to remove themselves also, that particular argument doesn’t well apply.

It’s sad how *Christians* twist the truth. I AM a Christian but I know others will know me by the love I have for others. Jesus said, Matthew 9:11-13 New International Version (NIV) 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.

13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.Â’[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” I hope your friend reads the bible and learns a lot from it, rather than assuming she is doing God’s work by turning away from everyone who NEEDS God’s love.

Any “true” Christian does not believe in killing any other human being. As far as the Bible containing murder etc. Sure it does. However, the key is that it is not the “Saviour” Who does the murder, it is imperfect humans. And it is not the teaching of the Bible nor the teaching of Jesus to harm or to kill anyone. Jesus believes in life –for all human beings. IT is not humans’ place to make any judgments to kill humans. As it says in the Bible , “vengence is mine-says the Lord”—so anyone that decides to “kill” because of what they believe in the Bible , is simply reading the Bible incorrectly or misinterpreting the Bible. The Bible’s message is peace for all humans. And, of course, it goes on to more messages but bottom line is that if you truly believe in the Bible then you do not believe in killing humans, not even humans who have killed, not even humans who have committed the most horrible crimes. It’s straight forward clear message, “Thou Shalt Not Kill”. just an opinion here.
