means “myrrh” or “bitterness.” Pergamos means “high tower” or “thoroughly married.”  Thyatira means “perpetual sacrifice” or “continual offering.” 
Sardis
means “those escaping” or “renovation.” 
Philadelphia
means “brotherly love.”
Laodicea
