The Interview
Had the interview this morning. I think it went well, although today is the last day of school and I think the counselors that interviewed me were pretty distracted. Probably not the best day for me to interview. Oh well. I’m pretty sure they liked me, but I’m also pretty sure I will not be offered the position. Just didn’t feel that "click," you know? It’s a great school and a wonderful counseling department and if they offered me the position I would definitely take it…but I think my friend Diane is more likely to be offered the job. When she went for her interview yesterday, she found out she actually worked with one of the counselors at her previous job. They didn’t work together directly, but had some interaction. After I heard that, I just kind of started considering the job hers. It actually probably helped me, because since I had nothing to lose, I did not feel very nervous at all. At the end of the interview I did give the head counselor copies of my results reports from small groups and classroom guidance that I ran this year, and I think that impressed him…I’ll be bringing those along to future interviews as well.
(Crosses fingers that there will be future interviews!)
The questions they asked me came straight off the list I studied from (from the American School Counseling Association’s website). =)
Now, just because I have learned how to make pictures work, here is a picture of my sleepy puppy. =)
It was definitely good experience to have that first interview! And it sounds like it went well. Now I’m off to google interview questions from the American Counseling Association – good tip, thanks! =) P.S. – what an adorable puppy!
