St. Patrick’s Day
Had a great weekend. Friday night, Ryan and I had a big St. Patrick’s Day party. It actually ended up being a little bigger that we anticipated, but it was really fun. We even managed not to get in a big fight while we were getting everything ready! =) Generally, it’s almost guaranteed that we will get into an argument over something while we are trying to get ready. This time we were both a lot more laid back. We grilled out on the porch, built a fire in the pit, and had plenty of alcohol available for the masses. I don’t even want to know how many car bombs Ryan did with various folks. Too many, I’m sure. I had a few Strongbows, and that was plenty for me. Our friend Chris brought his guitar, and a bunch of us ended up standing around singing drinking songs for a good part of the night. The drunker you get, the more fun they get. =)
I was really glad because some friends I hadn’t seen in a while came by. In particular, my friend Robert. He lives in NC, and we used to be really close (best friends, really). But since he got married, I have seen less and less of him. I think he sometimes feels a little awkward around me because we have a long history together. But Friday night was totally comfortable, and back to old times. I’m so grateful for that.
I slept late on Saturday, and then got up to go to a wedding shower for a friend of mine. There were so many people there….a lot of old ladies from the church, and a handful of my youth. I holed up in the corner next to the food, and hung out with my friends Rachael and Nancy. Rachael used to be my roommate, and Nancy is old enough to be my mother, but she’s awesome. One great thing that I found out is that Nancy’s husband’s company owns a big building downtown, that has a big ballroom-type room in it. Nancy said that whenever Ryan and I get married, we could probably use that room for our reception for FREE! What a great deal! =) It made me really excited, because we are always saying that we want to have a reception with a lot of dancing, but we can’t afford much. Anyway, I still may never get engaged, but if I do at least I’ll have an option! =)
I hope you do get engaged for both our sakes haha so Ican have someone to look to as to say “hey they got engaged, I can totally get engaged too” lol. Free is always good! Your party sounds awesome, we have nights like that once its warm here but its hard to have good times like that outside when its like 30 degrees. 🙁
