Baby shower
Tomorrow I am throwing a baby shower for one of my best friends who is having her first baby in August. I have never thrown a shower before, but as soon as I heard she was pregnant, I knew I would have to do something nice for her. Unfortunately, our other friends who would have wanted to help all live out of state, and her family was interested in attending a shower, but not throwing one. Luckily, her mom did offer for us to use her home, since it is more centrally located and larger than mine. Also luckily, I have the best mom in the world, who totally came to my rescue this week.
I was getting so stressed about everything and wasn’t sure how I was going to get everything done by myself. Enter mom, who offered to make a fruit salad and cut up veggies for a tray. I am going to go over to her house tomorrow morning to wrap my gift and then we are going to drive up together and she is going to help me set up. She is so awesome…I feel so much better just knowing that she is going to be there to help me.
Also, I found out today that there are going to be three more people there that I didn’t know about (who didn’t rsvp to me). This is actually a good thing…we are still only going to have about 11 people, so hopefully it won’t be awkward. I didn’t plan any silly games or anything–her mom was so glad to hear this. =) We’re just not into those kinds of things. I’d much rather just visit and eat some cake. However, I did plan one creative activity that will be strictly voluntary. I bought some plain onesies and some stencils and fabric paint, so people can paint a onesie for the baby if they want to. I just painted one (to try it out and have an example for folks) using a caterpillar stencil and it’s pretty cute….when the front dries, I’m going to paint a little butterfly on the bottom. =) It might be slightly girly if they end up with a boy, but oh well. It can be hard making everything unisex!
I hope the shower goes well. That’s nice that your mom was able to help you out! 🙂
